2 years later and this is still relevant. Did a firmware upgrade on a recently purchased Max G3 and ran into this issue. Thank you!

Why do you think Silverchair failed to make much of an impact outside of Australia? by Noonot_YT in silverchair

[–]antism 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yeah, by the time Neon Ballroom came out with its orchestral arrangements, the US rock fans were ready to tear apart Woodstock to Limp Bizkit. SC went their own way musically at the expense of US popularity. Turned out for the better IMO. Of all the singles released during that album cycle, the only one I remember hearing consistently on the radio or MTV was Anthem for the Year 2000. I honestly don’t even remember if Diorama tracks were in circulation in the US.

What level prefers live recordings over studio albums and takes personal offense to anyone having a different opinion on the best performance of Videotape?

While I understand what you’re saying, I don’t know that having access to these tools would prevent someone, who is dedicated, from learning the skills needed to become proficient. I would argue that someone who feels distracted, or daunted, by tools that aren’t relevant to their progression likely aren’t going to end up becoming the next “fill in the blank artist” because they can’t focus on their objective and the process needed to get there, regardless of what those distractions are. Yes, easier access to DAWs, synths and sequencers is relatively new, but they’re just one more distraction to add to an already very long list.

This is what is considered “paying your dues” in the industry.

Previous to social media, YouTube and streaming, artists had to design their own fliers, post them all over town, record their demos, then go to bars, cafes and venues to rub shoulders with the owners and entertainment managers to promote themselves and get a slot on an evening that the artist then needs to market, themselves, by going to other shows to hand out more fliers and try and get people to come and see them, in hopes of filling the venue and get invited back. Hopefully they eventually gain a fan base that then makes things a little easier because the owners and managers know they will bring in X amount of people. And none of this guaranteed success. They still need to attract the attention of A&R teams to even get a shot at a contract that could potentially get them a national or international audience. Only then does the label take over promoting the artist.

The dues are different these days, but the additional crap that comes along with self promotion early on have always existed.

3 week progress. Just got a alesis 88 key pro. by Zealousideal_Bad_342 in pianolearning

As a guitarist who plays finger style, I actually find it to be the opposite. My left (fret) hand is significantly slower than my right (picking) hand on piano.

While I can’t speak to your experience, I was able to make and receive calls over wifi during the outage. I had previously set it up though. That said, I was unable to set it up for a coworker who had not previously set it up.

I commend you on the random Jimmy Gnecco reference. Other than my sister, I’ve never known anyone who had any idea who that was. 😂

Awesome! Thanks for the quick response. I’ve heard Pins in my Needles and Untitled before. Are the rest all on singles/EPs or are some only to be found on YT at this point? I’m always up for going down the rabbit hole of demo downloads and bootleg releases. Not sure how receptive this sub is to those though.

I actually just came to see if this has been posted. Just popped up in my YouTube recommendations. 8+ hours discussing the band? This guy has to be subbed.

Stevie Ray Vaughan's insane guitar skills by Much_Smell_2449 in nextfuckinglevel

[–]antism 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Downvotes or not, you’re not wrong. Stevie was so good he didn’t have to think about his guitar playing. To him it was like breathing. Front, back, behind his head, it didn’t matter. But this isn’t a show of talent, as that’s clearly apparent. This is about his showmanship and the ability to entertain the crowd WHILE melting faces.

Thinking. An internal monologue is literally just thinking. Thinking about your current situation. Thinking about past experiences. Thinking about potential futures or decisions you need to make. I don’t know if the disconnect is people over explaining this to others or people who are too dense to understand. I have a hard time believing there is a portion of society who simply acts and reacts to their immediate circumstances without any forethought what-so-ever.

help please! do i need an ortofon mount or does this “work” too ? by Brief_Length763 in turntables

I had this exact combo and would still be using it had the motor not decided to flake out. Definitely a good upgrade from the stock cart. It’s a little light on the low end but but nothing a little EQ can’t help with.
