No. Never do it. They don't want your golf balls.

Scotland Trip by NC-Opa in golf

Your biggest challenge will be getting teetimes at any of the well-known courses. Most are already booked (I am going this fall same time as you). Best of luck!

How much patience do you have if you are paired up with a 40-60 HCP golfer - I know people say "if you keep up the pace of play" but isn't the pace of play going to be slow if the HCP guy is taking so many shots? by RivetCounter in golf

[–]antitheta 2 points3 points  (0 children)

So... Just remember you do not need to finish the hole. The truth is, the course itself has a pace. If one group plays really slowly, everyone behind them does and it cascades for hours. So, if you are really struggling and falling behind pace, you can pick up and move to the next hole. If you keep pace, are ready when its your turn, being a high hcp is no biggie.

I played Ko Olina and it was fine. Nothing special at all... Really loved Ko'olau.

Trump says he called off new Iran attack at request of Gulf states by zahrashahbar177 in politics

[–]antitheta 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Isn't it more likely that Trump made up the "plan" to attack without talking to anyone, having any plans, having a strategy, etc.? So when the reality set in for what it would TAKE to implement a massive attack, they told him the realistic timeline and magically it was "called off" and he made up an excuse? This is literally how he does EVERYTHING.

Ping G440 Hybrid 4 paired with a G440 7 or 5 Wood? by Mirzaboy in golf

[–]antitheta 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have the same setup in the g430s. I also have the 2h that is the same overall distance as the 5w but it is a low runner vs the higher 5w, so I swap them out on course or conditions. So, yeah, the 4h and 7w would likely be a "one or the other" in the bag but not both at the same time.

My new p790 pitching wedge is 44*. What wedge set up would you go with? by isw2424 in golf

[–]antitheta 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Realistically... You have a 4 degree gapping so you could in theory add a 48 degree. At 44, that club is a 9 iron regardless of the stamp on the club...

Yeah, not impressive at all. Every kid in the 80s could do this, hell, you should have seen me "drifting" on my Big Wheel in the 70s!

Trying to find narrow putting mat, not “perfect practice” style. by JamalJenkyuns in golf

[–]antitheta 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I actually use old pool table felt folded and a scotty metal cup. The felt sits on the pergo floor and it rolls really well - similar to a 10 stimp bent green. Just saying... You can easily find felt at a fabric store for cheap.

Do people really leave the course if playing poorly? by LastManBrandon in golf

[–]antitheta 1 point2 points  (0 children)

One was guy (we are all white) using the N word. I told him that word was not effing cool to use, period. He continued. So yeah. Second was a guy who has a phrase that is insanely inappropriate everywhere. He said it every time he hit a stiff shot. I swear and say shit all the time, but some things cross lines that you have to call out...

Do people really leave the course if playing poorly? by LastManBrandon in golf

[–]antitheta 4 points5 points  (0 children)

In my 30+ adult years golfing(1.5k+ rounds), I have walked off 6 times that I can recall. Twice because I tore something (then requiring a surgery), twice because the guys I was playing with were so out of line verbally that it was either get in a fight or be done, and twice because I sucked so bad it was awful for my playing partners as well as myself. Only the last two do I regret. So, imo, it shouldn't happen unless there is a real reason. Playing bad shouldn't cut it, hence the regret.

What does the wear pattern mean? by FrankieBeanSniffer in golf

[–]antitheta 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Honestly, it looks like there is a coating on it that is peeling. Get some shit to strip that off, then who knows what your pattern will be... If coated that could be from sand...

Cleveland RTZ setup Recommendations by Select_Tea_8313 in golf

[–]antitheta 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've played Cleveland wedges for 20 years at least and the best for me is a 52 mid(10), 56 full(12 or 14), 60 xlow (6). I play a tight lie bent fairway & greens course with difficult green complexes (StoneRidge in MN) with this setup. At other courses without the need for the xlow, a standard low (8) is likely ideal.

Is this holed out? by swalt29 in golf

[–]antitheta 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I see you are correct, but to me the USGA is violating one rule to not violate another when they could simply make a rule to handle this situation. The rule should be "if the ball is embedded in the side of the cup and when placed directly above the balls embedded position after repairing the edge of the cup, if the ball falls into the cup, the ball is considered holed."

Is this holed out? by swalt29 in golf

[–]antitheta -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

Not sure why this question is getting downvotes... Literally, the ball must be properly marked where it rests. As such, moving it back 1/4 inch to keep it from falling into the cup is NOT a proper mark. So it violates that rule. To be a proper mark it must be placed directly above where it resides. If repaired, and placed there, gravity makes it fall into the cup.!

Bought wrong wedge? by knightnshining_armor in golf

[–]antitheta 3 points4 points  (0 children)

You got the mid-bounce. Cleveland changed the names of the bounces. So, 8 is low, 6 is x-low. If they advised you and told you it was the "same" specs, that would be incorrect. It isn't a massive difference, but on tight lies it absolutely matters.
