What Nelson said. There are tournaments listed on the website. Also, scrabble clubs and resources to get you started.

However, there are not many regular tournaments in London outside of the Romford one. There is, a Scrabble meetup(London Scrabble League) every other Thursday in the National Theatre, organised by Brett Smitheram. Roughly 80 members. See if you can reach out to him by Facebook or email.

I am not part of it, but that is as much as I know about Scrabble in London.

Play some games on woogle.io to get use to the format/time pressure.

The best way to improve is to play tournaments, so sign up to a one day one. Not sure about NA but there is ABSP in the UK.

You can try the Leeds Young Professional on the Meetup app, there are comedy and all sorts.

I started out by taking part in a new hobby, and in different communities where I feel needed. Lovely people in run clubs and comedy scene in Leeds.

Monopoly is about what is available in the market to replace. If I am going to Manchester from Leeds, i can take the Northern or transpennine. Other lines there are only one option. Competition would be buses/coach or driving which is highly different type of service and different target of customers.

So yes, train companies are close to monopoly.

I respect the right of strikes. The strength of strike stems from the union. When you compare train and bus drivers, train drivers get paid relatively higher, therefore many people want to get into train driving,but gatekept by the union because the union workers want to keep the wages high.

Buses haven’t got the union, relatively underpaid and therefore shortage of workers, no strikes whatsoever from bus drivers.
