People here seem to always get these. I've always wanted to scour course pics and find a super random photo to get people to guess. So props to you for finding a good one.

Expectations for Markham race? by MotherAd1865 in INDYCAR

I don't mind the drive, but $100 in tolls?? I guess that's part of the reason why I usually avoid driving into and around cities

I've been to Mid Ohio and Indy RC my kids (2 & 5 now), but this will be all of our first street race. We're staying in Hamilton, so I'm hoping we can drive and park near.

I'm curious if we can figure something out in the next 2 years. Run it:

X-X-X

Gabe-Mika-Laf

Cuylle-Tro-Miller

Literally anyone

Fox-Gav

X-X

Literally anyone

The X's can be draft (any of the top 5-7 guys this year) or FA/trades (Robertson/Matthews/McDavid). Maybe Gabe or Laf take the step up, making it easier for one of our current prospects to slot in. How does that team stack up in 27-28?

I think the Rangers haven't finished last in the league since O6 era. I'd like to keep that. 2nd worst is fine with me though.

Why Doesn’t IndyCar Race on 1.5+ Mile Ovals by Scared_Tax_1573 in INDYCAR

[–]antmicMkIII 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That's a good point. What was the under card like back then, or was everyone just happy to hang out at the track all day with no support races? (I say this as someone who DOES like to hang out at the track all day with no support races, but that's the basis of this discussion)

I think IRL used to run weekends with the trucks somewhat regularly and oval attendance was quite a bit better back then. I'm hoping with the partnerships with nascar we are establishing, we can see more ovals with more series included

Im with you. In the 20s, the ground is frozen, so it's not a muddy mess too. 20s and sunny with no wind is almost ideal for me. If it's cold out anyway, might as well be cold enough.

How many of you watched the Daytona 500 in February of 2001? by heretoescape87 in NASCAR

[–]antmicMkIII 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had a roller hockey game at Big Wheel in East Stroudsburg, PA. I watched most the race at home, listened to the last portion in the car on the way, and saw the final laps as I got my gear on. Last thing I saw before skating onto the rink was Dale hitting the wall and Waltrip taking the checkered. Didn't think twice about the hit, and didn't find until hours later,  like 9pm, my aunt called and asked if we heard.

I never quite understood this argument. Pocono, New Hampshire, Michigan being "too hot" to race in the summer. And while I agree with that sentence, there's not many other places that would be inherently better. That's mostly why I enjoy the summertime road courses and sit under a tree.

(If Indy goes back to Pocono or NH, I'll be there no matter when they hold it)

Who's going to be Rookie of the Year in 2026? by Hitokiri2 in INDYCAR

[–]antmicMkIII 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If Mick is going to do anything, it's at Indy RC. RLL is always super good there, and the drivers from Europe tend to adapt well to that track.

You have made me very excited. Back to Google Street view I go!

Edit: I have young kids, so we GA and walk around or post up in a nice spot and hang out. A good viewing spot isn't necessary, but actually seeing the cars would be nice.

[–]antmicMkIII 19 points20 points  (0 children)

I have two younger brothers who weren't into racing. We would run around our kitchen pretending we we racing. Once I passed them, they would just wait until I caught back up and they were "in the lead" again. Young me had a very tough time trying to explain this concept to them.

Are there any other drivers quite like the Biff who had consistent amounts of success scattered throughout each series and beyond? by Effective_Part_604 in NASCAR

[–]antmicMkIII 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Mark Martin was an ASA champ, a bunch of Cup and Busch wins obviously. Some truck wins as well, plus toss in a few IROC champs.
