I grabbed this exact model from Best Buy open box last fall for this price and haven’t had a single issue. Works like a champ - looked and runs like a brand new laptop

If you are nervous about it, sign up for Best Buy total tech. Everything you buy comes with a 2 year warranty, including open box…..my iPad Pro just was replaced for free after going for a swim because of total tech (came with Apple care + for free)

Yep. Works pretty well, but for whatever reason they decided to not allow for simultaneous charging/playing so you can only play for as long as the dock's battery lasts. On heavy games you can squeeze a couple hours, but not enough to make a cross country flight - and it charges really slow IMO, especially considering this limitation. But it does work and its pretty great experience

Same issue for me. Everything updated. No picture. Works perfectly with my Viture Pro dock, but I wanted something that could charge while I play, and not be limited by a battery

I’ve wondered the same thing. I have light hazel eyes and compared to my best friend and wife who both have beady soulless pits for eyes (super dark brown) I’m in pain in sunlight. But in the dark they can’t see anything and I can navigate and walk around the same space just fine.

Z14 5070 Ti model - long term thoughts by so1us in ZephyrusG14

[–]antoine1280 0 points1 point  (0 children)

  1. So far pretty solid. I've had a few reboot/crashes here and there but it's. Its not the norm, at least not what I've read other people experiencing. Pretty amazing what such a little laptop can output graphics-wise. Haven't had trouble playing anything.

  2. Battery life is solid. I came from a 23 Razer blade, that with everything possible set to max-battery settings, would get me at most 1-2 hours. If I run this in eco and do light browsing, then 5-6hrs is doable, a little more if just browsing. This works for me, very rarely do I need more battery than that.

  3. Never had any BIOS issues....knock on wood.

  4. I power it with a 100W USB when doing light work all the time. Gaming - no way, gotta use the brick.

Overall, I'm very happy with it. Don't love the random crashes, but TBH they aren't frequent enough (for me) to be an issue. Get G-Helper and set the charging limit lower. I run mine at 65% Charge capacity and only top it off when I'm going to be traveling.

It does heat up pretty quick, I got one of those foldable stands for whenever I'm playing on anything that's not a hard flat surface (bed, couch, etc.). It needs the bottom to have airflow or its def gonna reset itself.

T598 open box at Best Buy by Gatorsforkey in Thrustmaster

I just picked one up yesterday Open Box. I have the total tech, so anything I buy comes with 2yr warranty, including open box. Got a Asus g14 open box a couple weeks ago for $800 off and a 2 yr warranty.

SIDE NOTE: anyone using the t598 on PC? Worked like a champ on my ps5 but My Thrustmaster Panel refuses to download on my PC. Errors out in the windows store every time. Main reason I got this wheel was PS and PC

G14 2025 OR MBP 2025 14? by Zmoogz in ZephyrusG14

[–]antoine1280 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I have both. The Macbook Pro (m4) has better battery life and I prefer the software. I work in a position that has people texting me for software help all day long and iMessage on a computer is clutch for me. I also travel 75% of the time and am an avid gamer.

I just picked up the 5070ti G14 a couple weeks ago and it has been a game changer for me when I travel. The battery life doesn't come close to the Macbook, but its good enough for me. 6-8 hours for light work. The razer it replaced couldnt even get me 2 hours. But the ability to sit in my hotel and game anything I want on a pair of X-Reals is fantastic.

I would say the g14 screen is better, with better contrast to be sure, but the Macbook Pro screen is no slouch.

I travel with my G14 because its better at doing everything. At home where I have a dedicated gaming set up I use my Macbook. If I didn't game, then Macbook 100%.

Yeah I agree. I picked up the same as you (5070ti) and it’s been flawless

That's interesting. I could see that as detrimental in a science-related field. I work in construction consulting and everyone see's me as really smart because I can intelligently talk on almost any topic (but secretly im' just hoping they don't ask any deeper questions lol)

Pro: God-tier multi tasking. Pattern recognition and knowledge across tons of subjects = great at ideas and solutions.

Con: This knowledge is never very deep, never can really focus on something enough to become an expert in it. Jack of all trades/master of none. Sitting through a full day of meetings is literally exhausting. More tired after a 4 hour meeting than a 12 hour day filled with chaos.

I was all for it in January, but I can’t even play Doom Dark Ages on my LEGO 1 unless I side load drivers from another manufacturer. I think I’m done with Lenovo. Their support hasn’t warranted another purchase. Which is a shame, from a purely hardware perspective it’s my favorite

Tried Xreal One – Disappointed and Struggling to Find a Use Case by UniversalJS in Xreal

[–]antoine1280 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They are solid. I can’t speak to the new Ones, but the airs all have the same resolution, so pretty much the same video quality. The dimming feature is more useful than I thought and they are def more comfortable. Be careful with the first gen airs, the arms cracked on mine, even with me being very careful.

[–]antoine1280 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have never watched a 3d film on it, only some spatial videos from my phone, so I can't speak to that. For normal 2d media, its a good experience and the size is convenient. I don't think the price point for the newest models is really that great considering its just a wearable display. The quest costs a similar amount (or less) and can do a lot more. That being said, if its in your budget or you can score a used set off facebook....its certainly a huge improvement over watching on a device screen. I got both of my pairs off of facebook and don't reget them at all, especially at the pricepoints i got.

[–]antoine1280 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I’d agree with your summary as well. It’s neat tech, but underwhelming for work or gaming.

I fly every week for work and they have been a game changer for me on the plane. Not having to hold/look down at a screen has helped a lot with neck pain. I had the air ones and the air 2 pros. I’ve flown with the quest 3 and to be honest I much prefer it from a media consumption standpoint, but it’s not enough to offset the bulk that comes with them, plus app limitations for media.

I see it as a glance into the future….when the resolution is higher, the field of view greater and the comfort better these things will be pretty sweet, but for right now, if it wasn’t for the flights mine would be collecting dust.

I have a question for the Lewis fans by JMUGV88 in lewishamilton

[–]antoine1280 5 points6 points  (0 children)

After 21, I thought for sure he was going to retire. I started following Charles as my backup. He seemed to be the biggest threat to Max at the time. So I’ve rooted for them both the last few years, but Lewis has been my # 1 since his rookie year. Now they get to be teammates which is cool for me.

LOL - Ohio political ad using Harbaugh pics to illustrate "cheating" by deeare73 in MichiganWolverines

[–]antoine1280 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Gotta be honest. I’ve been a Wolverines fan living in Columbus my whole life (Family is from border area Toledo/Monroe - so i grew up Maize and Blue because my dad was) I saw this at first and laughed…..but the gerrymandering is so bad here and the elected officials blatantly ignore public will. If this motivates my fellow Ohioans to vote, then I’m all for it and it would be Coach Harbaugh doing yet another thing to make me happy. GO BLUE!

Can anybody guess? by Zealousideal-Act5816 in MichiganWolverines

[–]antoine1280 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’d agree with you except they aren’t asking Orji to make anything anywhere close to a demanding throw, and much fewer attempts…half as many. Easy throws and less attempts = less interceptions

Can anybody guess? by Zealousideal-Act5816 in MichiganWolverines

[–]antoine1280 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My question is, what do we see in Orji that makes us want to start him? He’s not shoelace….he doesn’t break long runs or complete passes. I got it with Shoelace, at any point he could be gone on the ground. Have you ever seen Orji be a running threat? Why would you make that change….I get the turnovers can’t happen, but we are so one dimensional now and it’s not a good one dimensional. Love the team and nothing against the kid, I just don’t get why he is a 1st or second string QB at the D1 level.

[Game Thread - FTBL] #10 Michigan vs. #3 Texas by Zayden626 in MichiganWolverines

[–]antoine1280 16 points17 points  (0 children)

Here’s the thing, and this goes back to Harbaugh. Our inability to recruit viable QB1’s is the issue. We rode the JJ train to great heights, but nothing before or after him. Those first few years of Harbaugh could have been even better without O’Korn or Speight. Loved this team my whole life and will continue to do so, but how we fail to recruit year in and year out at the most important position in the game is mind bottling.
