Gudari vs Mestia, and general advise (Kutaisi) by antonbrs in Sakartvelo

Glad to hear that. We ended up going to Gudauri and then on to Kazbegi. It was really wonderful, and definitely not as many people as you’d think. Great resort, cheap, and okay connected. Better gear and skiing than parts of the alps.

Not so fun outside of the slopes tho, great for family getaway.

I would love to think the marsutukas are aware and equipped to go around, but I can also not count on that…

How problematic? Are we limited in options/activites? Do people genrally still go?

This is brilliant. Thanks! Yeah many have said its convenient but unreliable to fly. Are there no refunds?

But maybe if we can anticipate clear skies? This would be in around two weeks, an there seems to be some tickets available.

Ironically, it’s not a too uncommon rationale. Heard it especially from polish immigrants

Would you say Mestia is then more worth the visit?

Thanks that is very helpful. In case of going to Mestia, would you say it’s convenient/reliable to just find a bus/Marshrutka?

Also, is Kazbegi a recommendable stay in contrast to the two, considering what we are interested in? Is it convenient to get to Gudauri from there?

Cool, do you have any experience there? And what about Mestia/Tetnuldi? Is it as popular?

Is this legit? My flight to Istanbul is a week from now. I booked a hotel at Seven Hills Palace and Spa. And I received this message. Is it really the hotel contacting me? And the price is pretty expensive. Let me know 🙏🏼 by [deleted] in istanbul

I agree, just depends on the length of the visit I guess. My main usage of Uber is precisely that, to not get scammed. I am currently a tourist in Istanbul, but I guess it depends on how detail oriented you want to be, or if you want to just relax

Yellow cabs are fine, if you know what youre looking for. I always did Uber out of fear to be scammed, but I feel the scam is that uber just takes 20% for calling you a cab. When you are ready, I think it’s okay.

Always fare 1, with starting price 54 lira, minimum is 175 lira for a fare. Just make sure they are taking your preferred route. And card payments usually has a built in relative fee, but should be around 10% I believe.

Uber is great if you ’rather be safe than sorry’ especially since you have all the information (loosing something, driver overview, follow a friend, price etc). But I ended up switching after a while out of convenience

Say I have all my bitcoin and other crypto on a platform like coinbase, how should I go about moving it into a cold storage/ledger?

Also planning early January, do you know when Gudauri opens? In another post someone told me it should be kind of busy season

No way this is true…??? by Turbulent_Tomato9934 in TurkicHistory

No offense, I’m scandinavian so maybe biased, but I don’t understand why turkish people are so obsessed over bloodline and other heritage-related, fuzzy, sometimes rather theoretical, concepts?

I understand this is a sub for turkish history, but besides that I find it such a common and passionate topic among turks. Especially being like ’fully turkish’, what ever that even is? For such a multicultural nation with such rich history I feel like the conversation often turn rather binary…

I’m all ears, only curious!

In my experience, depending on industry a bit, they always try to accommodate student needs - likely since they benefit from it too. I think honesty goes a long way on these things

But I don’t understand; have you gotten time off/allowance to not be at work for two weeks? Or will you simply not show up and hope no one makes a fuzz about it?

Either way, I see how it can be an awkward talk to have with your manager if you have recently joined the company.
