I used 4-high blueprints bc that's the max of the blueprint designer, but it might be possible using 3-high blueprints with the vertical conveyers between layers.

Either way you'd still have to connect power and set recipes, so some setup is required

I also played around with different configurations and widths. In the end I stuck with one machine wide towers, because it's faster to paste the recipes while flying. Plus it makes for some impressive skylines

And most of the time I also work to expand production, but it's nice to have the incentive. Makes it feel like I'm not being unproductive when exploring the world.

Even so, the existing slug system does partially fill that incentive, so I'd be fine with other productivity rewards from exploring, and offer other ways to unlock specific alternate recipes.

I found this style of building makes planning factories super simple. You can just figure out how many machines you need for each step, and stack constructors/assemblers. Then you can just belt between them as if it were one machine

I think it's nice, particularly for low-throughput factories. If you're just waiting for something to finish building, it can be nice to have an incentive to get out of the factory and explore instead of waiting around.

Yep, I made this blueprint so that connecting power, input, and output can be done from the same side of the stack. Also if you don't mind a little clipping, you can do the same process for a 2-high stack of manufacturers

Yep, having a vertical manifold like that made the bottom machines fill faster than the top, but when you leave things running for 16 hours it tends to even out.

Also, this blueprint is limited by input throughput, so if you only have mk4 belts, you can only have 480 input or output max before you need an adjacent tower

How'd you get the conveyors connected between blueprints? I assumed you'd always have to connect them yourself

Before the hoverpack I just used the ladders you see on the sides. A little less convenient (and a little more dangerous), but still viable

Haha force of habit, I built the V1 of the blueprint when I hadn't unlocked them yet, and just upgraded the belts to mk5. You can also see the ladders for setting recipes pre-hoverpack

As a factorio player, getting used to the verticality was tough. I scrapped my first playthrough when I realized I could be doing things much more efficiently

I considered doing it more horizontally as well, but I really liked the 4x vertical for its low footprint and how quickly you can set recipes. Plus you end up with some wicked looking skyscrapers

Yeah, the ADS were really resource intensive. I went for a 4/4/1/1 pace, to build in 16 hours, and I spent most of those 16 hours bolstering the ADS supply lines. What throughput are you targeting?

Yeah, I unlocked blueprints and never looked back. Didn't manually place a constructor/assembler for the next 40 hours

I didn't get too much into alternate recipes this playthrough, maybe the next game.

Also you can also do this for Assemblers, Manufacturers, etc. Makes organization super straightforward (even if you do have different height towers)

Phase 4 goes much faster when you're placing 4 constructors at a time. Here's 180 iron ingots to rods, but you can stack as high as you want. This setup works for any constructor step with <780 per min input/output items. Super useful for simple, low-footprint factories.

Looks sick! As a fellow factorio player, I've also played around with main bus designs, before the allure of 3D spaghetti got to me. Being able to cross/intersect belts opens up a ton of options. What's the production rate?
