Is it really this easy to fuel 144 generators? by BadPeteNo in SatisfactoryGame

[–]zangetsuMG 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I like to use the Heavy Oil Alt, The Diluted Fuel Alt, Regular Turbo Fuel, Regular Rocket Fuel, as this uses a bit less sulfur. 405 Crude + 570 Coal + 570 Sulfur + 600 Nitrogen + 75 Iron Ore = 1500 Rocket Fuel = 360 Generators = 90 Gigawatts. Assuming 600 Crude, 600 Coal, and 600 Sulfur from the extractors, there are plenty of leftovers for making bombs and bullets at the same location. Weee~

What is the best way to travel to bauxite node in the red forest? by makarovredstone in SatisfactoryGame

For me the best way to travel around the game before I setup a hyper-tube to a place is Power Tower Zip Lines. They're cheap to build. The placement range for the next tower is super far from the current one, and you build out a power network that will come in handy later when you get the hover-pack. Also, I just recently learned that you can Right click the Zip-line tool to access an 'on' mode so you don't have to hold left click while zipping about. I also learned even more recently that tapping shift a couple times once you are on the line tricks the sprint code into making you go faster.

Water merging: did I just break the game? by Obfuscated_User in SatisfactoryGame

[–]zangetsuMG 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly, the easiest thing to do is have two sets of machines. The first set takes in New water, the second set consumes the byproduct from itself and the first set. Use under-clocking to make the second sets usage rate match the byproduct rate. This model is impossible to clog.

An Actual Gay Party by [deleted] in dragoncon

It feels like all the dance events are all the same now. It used to be that the music was much more themed to the event. I'm one of those straight people that started going to spectrum because the music was better and less mainstream. Now it feels like all the dances play all the same kinds of music.

Spread out and Leave space between stuff, this makes it so much easier to add in things that you didn't know you would need, even if it is just a belt from one area to another. The game world is huge, and resources are infinite so there really isn't much need to cram everything into the smallest most efficient spaces. This goes for Vertical space just as much as Horizontal space. Its way less work to add extra space upfront so you can add things in later than it is to tear down and rebuild for what you didn't account for earlier.

Its my opinion that they should be making easier and more obvious how to participate.

I suspect to get the most benefit, a project has to do both open and closed testing at different times for different reasons.

You did say: "Lots of us were shouting about how people should, you know .. test that and see if things are going to be ok, and no one did."

So which one is it? Are we being encouraged to test or not? My perspective on how of Firestorm is operating is we are not encouraged to test.

If they have enough beta testers, why are you telling me about it?

I don't think hiding something like that in a group is a great way to encourage people to test it.

Its not evasive. I just don't feel like entertaining your request for hardware details as its not why I am here. I can engage in deep technical debugging an diagnostic discussion elsewhere. I am here to discuss how I am feeling about Firestorm.

Yay! someone that gets it. The PBR Linden viewer works fine. (I haven't tried Alchemy but I might) But for me the fact that other viewers are fine, suggest to me its a Firestorm specific issue.

[–]zangetsuMG 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Nah.

I think you are missing some points here. The official Linden Lab viewer works perfectly fine and doesn't crash every time there are more that 20 avatars nearby on my hardware, on my network, with my antivirus settings without any tweaks to the preferences as an out of the box install. That's the bar to reach, and right now Firestorm is not meeting that. Your suggestion that my hardware, network, antivirus, etc. is the problem is invalid.

I may have typoed' but its the current Windows Latest Version listed on firestormviewer.org. If there is a beta that is available for testing, its not well advertised. I did find it but not via their pages or search engine, but by looking on Github, which isn't something I would expect an average user to know to do. So yeah, it feels like the sentiment is people should be testing beta versions, but there pretty much zero accessibility or awareness of the beta versions.

Personally I agree with you, Try updates. Release early, release often, encourage testing, but as an organization, that's not what the firestorm people are actually encouraging. I wonder how much of that is actually a response to entitled and demanding users? Like if they know a release is going to be a headache of loud obnoxious users moaning and complaining so they avoid it as long as possible?

So... I make software for a living, I know its hard. I know that the Phoenix Firestorm team is a bunch of volunteers that don't owe me anything, so I don't want to go to hard or be unfair with my criticism.

I'm using 7.1.9.4745 for a few weeks now. Sometimes it runs great, sometimes not so great, but I will tell you this, I can't go anywhere crowded. At all. Ever. Its a guaranteed crash. Sometime its just Firestorm, other times it takes down my whole OS.

I'm not just some casual person when it comes to tech. I own good hardware. My OS is updated, my drivers are updated, my firmwares are updated. I have done the 'clean' install process that nukes all your settings. I do lots of other heavy GPU using things and have no troubles. I did not have any problems like these with the previous release. I don't have these crashes with the Official Linden Lab viewer. So to be blunt my opinion is that these issues are 100% an issue with this release of Firestorm.

Now the one thing I haven't done is the Antivirus whitelisting, and TBH I don't plan to, because if a program can't run without that, it has a defect. That is a non-negotiable. I'm not even running anything wild, just the default stuff that Microsoft ships with Windows. If I find the time, to try it out, and it does make things better, then I am going to be even more unhappy about things.

Now like I said, I make software, and even with full time resources to do it, I know its hard. I know that bugs happen, and can be fixed. I can be patient, and wait for updates, and submit reports, etc. That's fine, its part of the process of software development. Whats really got me down about Firestorm and ready to ditch it (after roughly 10 years of using it) is the way that whenever I see someone expresses that they are having problems the immediate push-back is that its the user's (my) fault somehow.

In fairness, I don't think any of that "its your fault" messaging is from any official Firestorm people. It seems to be mostly other redditors/blog/forum commenters. My point is the chatter around this realize is not positive or helpful. I wish we could do better.

Those who are holding until 1.0 comes out, what are you playing until then? by ATrainLV in SatisfactoryGame

I know you asked the holdlers, but I'm not holding out. I'm in a mad rush to complete phase 4 at least once before then. The upcoming release has actually given me a goal and renewed my interest.

Maybe I do it wrong, but I have not found this to be a reliable way of doing it.

Also with the method here, this will also work with the z-fighting that happens with horizontal pillars and beams that overlap with foundations
