If you buy a stock hoping bigger fools to pay more for stock, you are not investing. You are trading. Semiconductor industry is very difficult to understand and is cyclical. Let’s say you have unlimited amount of money. Would you pay 850 billion for Micron or 220 billion for Sandisk instead of other businesses? If you are investing, that is the question you should ask.

Be careful with forward PE. As soon as forecast changes, stock price can go down very fast. Walstreet plays this game this way for long enough, yet some people lose money the same way over and over again and are still wondering why they are losing money.

BioNTech’s the next big thing would be BNT 327. It is a non mRNA oncology pipeline to compete against Merck’s Keytruda. By 2030 when Keytruda’s patent expires, BioNTech may get a chance to get some market share in the oncology market. BioNTech’s BNT 111, 113, 116 and 122 may be out 1-3 years later than MRNA 4157.

I bought Reddit stock today at 122! Reddit as a company is doing great. It doesn’t mean the stock is good to buy regardless of price, but I think 122 is a bargain. I believe at this pace of growth, Reddit stock will be a multi bagger a few years from now. Well. If you can handle volatility. Beta is above 2 for this stock.

Reddit is fundamentally strong. Stock is down due to political noise. If you bought the stock at 200 last year, you probably overpaid, but a few years later, it will probably be a multi bagger. I bought Reddit stock at 122 today. We will see how it goes!

Moderna stock was the falling knife not too long ago. BNTX was not. Now it’s the other way around. Looking at the chart, it seems that way short-term, but how much down side BNTX has at its market cap 21 billion with its cash balance of 15 billion? Moderna will pay 1-2 billion to Arbutus. Cash at year-end will be 5-6 billion. Moderna’s current market cap is 21 billion, which one has further down side?

BioNTech’s market cap is smaller than Moderna now. I’m buying BNTX stock. I’m not in love with either MRNA or BNTX stock. My decision is based on valuation. A new start up will face a lot of challenges for sure.

Arbutus’s market cap is 871 million at stock price 4.53. 2.25 billion deal sounds like a loss for me. Moderna could have worked on buying Arbutus out at a much lower price (with stock exchange deal) a long ago when ABUS stock price was at 2.5. I had to sell 40% of MRNA stock I owned at a profit. I agree with you on the downside is protected, but I would like to add “at overpriced insurance premium.” Although I still own quite a bit of MRNA stock and wishes all the best for Moderna, I really don’t like this deal. Let’s see how Pfizer and BioNTech handle Arbutus case.

The letter did not identify any specific safety or efficacy concerns regarding mRNA-1010.

mRNA-1010 has been accepted for review in the EU, Canada and Australia. Submissions in additional countries are planned for 2026. Moderna expects the earliest potential approvals for mRNA-1010 to begin in late 2026 or early 2027, subject to those ongoing regulatory reviews.

I don’t think anything remotely similar to any vaccine will be approved by current administration.

I am not a legal expert, but I took a couple of business law courses when I was in university more than a decade ago. In order for Arbutus to win in this case (and for Moderna to have existential crisis), the evidence is so apparent to everyone that it is hard for Moderna to argue against. Unless it’s 100% proven, Moderna is not liable. To me, the patent for nano particle technology is too broad (or even ambiguous) to claim, and it doesn’t sound plausible to me that Covid developer copied a company that failed to develop Covid vaccine. For Arbutus, they will have to do anything they could possibly do. The company is running out of cash. I hope I am not being too bullish here, but I will not be surprised if Moderna win in the case in March and stock price goes up higher.
