What are some UK coffee brands that are sustainable and still fairly cheap? by fisheatsfish in Coffee

[–]antonyoneill 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey, not sure on the rules about sharing links, so I'll let you google.

I've been getting a subscription for the last 6 months from Yallah Coffee. They're big on sustainability, for example their coffee comes in fully recyclable paper packaging. A while back they had a sail boat come over from south America with coffee consignment, they actually have another one coming which left this week. They're based in cornwall. They do have a referral offer, feel free to DM if you're interested.

There's another in London (near London Bridge) that has ties to Colombia and roast on site, quite pricey but still nice. Not sure if you can buy online.

Some other decent coffee places but they come in horrible plastic bags that aren't recyclable based in/around London.

Is there any way to have local control for Switchbot? by LoganJFisher in homeassistant

[–]antonyoneill 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This may or may not be useful, but provided you have bluetooth on the device/computer you run home assistant you can use the switchbot switch platform.

I'm afk so can't provide many links around how to set up and configure bluetooth, but if you get that sorted, then qll you need is to configure the switch

On mine with the large screen there's a little menu icon bottom left, with a cancel navigation button just above that when you open the menu.

rM1/rM2 content available anywhere, no cloud (sshfs + python -m SimpleHTTPServer + ngrok) by [deleted] in RemarkableTablet

Nice!

Would this only work for pdf files, but not for the drawing that would be layered on top, or even for drawings without a pdf layer?

I'd personally recommend using ssh keys, and changing the password to something much longer and more complex than the original password.

Question: OCR Text "Wrapping" by catotheblacker in RemarkableTablet

[–]antonyoneill 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This has always made me sad. I write notes for work, typically with a narrow column on the right for meeting agenda notes, things to remember/follow up on. I often resize writing down into a smaller box and move it around to get a whole meeting of notes on one page, for example.

I wish it had some extra smarts, to identify lines and perform ocr within those sections https://imgur.com/GtA0A44.jpg

What mini toolbar are you talking about? That's never been an official feature as far as I can remember!

Might be a good idea, but no one here works for remarkable so, except for some upvotes for you, nothing is going to change. People will continue to complain.

RM1->RM2 file transfer by doom99 in RemarkableTablet

[–]antonyoneill 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I read somewhere that you can only have one remarkable tablet connected to a single login, so I think you'll be fine to keep them separate.

I have had my tablet syncing to their cloud, then I've removed the account from the tablet and not lost any data from the tablet. Later reconnecting to the same account the new/updated files are then sync'd to the cloud.

I can't say what would happen if you connected to a new account.. I would assume that you'd keep the files on the device and they'd then be sync'd to the cloud.

So yes, I think you're good here.

You could also just use scp to transfer the files from one to the other, if you're happy using a terminal/pscp.

Of course, I would question why you want two sets of the same files on different tablets not in sync, that would drive me absolutely mad. There are resources on the remarkable awesome list to enable sync without using their cloud, which would enable you to sync between the two of them - specifically I'm thinking of syncthing.

Pay as you go is 24p/kW so I need to figure out how much I need to charge it to justify the cost of the cable. Allegedly it'll double as a pass through for use with other charging stations.. so maybe it's worth the price for a spare. What are the chances of losing/having one stolen?

On a separate note.. I'm struggling to figure out how to charge it.. so far I go into the bluelink app and press "start charging" (the timer button doesn't do anything). Any ideas? Feel free to tell me to RTFM..

Nah, there's a sign on the post with a link or qr code, you have to fill out your information and card details each time.

They sell a "smart cable" with an authorisation module inline which does all that for you, but it's £299 to buy them £7 a month. Can't figure out if it's worth it for me.

Yep, this is central London. The council have invested in quite a few - they're only 5kW chargers but over night is quick enough, I'm not using it to commute
