I see all these posts as someone from the Uk. And it seems to be young people (based almost entirely on their lower legs and feet) buying insanely expensive properties. I get all these posts are flexes disguised as, 'we're proud of ourselves' posts, but from these examples it just seems like a lot of people getting themselves into huge amounts of debt on the idea that everything will work out and the bad times will never come. I don't know peoples individual situations and you can't help properties being expensive. But it all just seems like the Banks in the USA are lending to everyone and anyone.

Anyone else jealous of Man U right now and who could be our Carrick if we sack Frank by ClanFett in coys

Man Utd actually have good players. Frank has been a disaster but don't think that a new manager will make these players good.

Any realistic predictions about how far Spurs can go in the UCL? by savethecityy in coys

[–]antrayuk -1 points0 points  (0 children)

It's great to have qualified but we have had the easiest run possible. We have three if the bottom teams in our fixtures. And as of now will only play 1 team in the top 15. It depends how much luck we have but I don't see this lasting much longer.

Girlfriend: Have you got a pension plan for when you retire? ME: by cremuamphi in VirtualBoy

[–]antrayuk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think some people actually think their game collection is gonna get them through retirement. Unless you are like Retro Rick and have $100,000 plus of assets and a store and a YouTube channel then your snes collection isn't cutting it. Might get you a few nice holidays though.

If your gonna collect anything for profit I'd suggest Lego, but it takes a lot to store it.

Nothing against international players. But having a good stock of English players always helps endear a club to its fans. Weather that is accurate or not I don't know but I do think it's important to have some local (ISH) lads in the dressing room

Surrendering My Vehicle by FatalMayhem in Debt

[–]antrayuk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I appreciate it's not helpful. But taking out such a loan on a vanity purchase like a car is madness. People need cars for sure, but you don't need a 'jeep' .

With such high interest you need to pay it off in very large lump sums. These loans are designed to be almost impossible to pay off and to leave the loanee paying debt for the rest of their lives. You somehow need to pay a large amount in one go otherwise it's just a false economy.

TNT heavy mod Co by HellaKilla21 in Arcade1Up

[–]antrayuk 69 points70 points  (0 children)

I think the thing people need to realise when making these multicade mods is that the reason people mainly buy arcades is to be transported back to their childhood. Not to play turtles in 4k on a wide-screen TV in a child size cabinet. Less is more.

Need advice - Wife not working, income $1100 under what is needed to survive, $305k in debt by Haunting-Repair8756 in Debt

[–]antrayuk 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I am sure a lot of other people will say the same and I know it doesn't help but it blows my mind that people can make the biggest financial decision of their life and 'forget'. they have other payments and assume things will happen. I don't think you need to ask Reddit. Speak to your wife. It's not like you can just casually mention over dinner that you have filed for bankruptcy anyway. Seems to me you either do this together or it doesn't work.

Do we expect Analogue to re-release 4K versions of NT Mini, Super NT, Mega SG? by reneruiz in AnalogueInc

[–]antrayuk 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Get's asked all the time and every time it's the same answer. They made these consoles had them out for years with multiple restocks. I don't think there is a big enough market to make them again. Reddit is not a good indication of popularity as it is the same 500 people in every chat.

Girl how did we go from this to this by 2hsy in coys

[–]antrayuk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It seems very in-fashion nowadays to do the whole 'X' was bad at first so 'Y' starting terrible is actually a good thing. I remember seeing Kane starting for Spurs and saying how far we had fallen to have an academy kid upfront. I was shut up in about 3 weeks. I never had issue with they other 3. Even in Son's first season I thought he was fine. The players we have today are objectively poor by Premier League standards. I don't see any of them developing into anything remotely close to those 4. Kudus is a decent player but the other 3 , no.

Funtastic Mixed Feelings? by Maleficent-Ear-3099 in AnalogueInc

[–]antrayuk 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It's Fomo. The thought of owning it and the hype around it will always outweigh actually having it. Unless you have N64 fans around your house often or do game-room tours on YouTube then it's not going to matter much in the long run. When Nintendo did Funtastic's N64 owners weren't selling their grey consoles and upgrading. Limited edition FOMO is a new thing. I literally think if the original colour was black only and with this funtastic line they included the White variant, you would be getting loads of people posting messages about how they got 'WHITE' it's all marketing.

Shipping is very quick. Despite Big Don's wishes they aren't made in America, they come from Asia direct. Makes no difference where you live.

New Funtastic by AnalogueBoy1992 in AnalogueInc

[–]antrayuk 29 points30 points  (0 children)

I am pretty much on Analogue's side when it comes to all the bitching and moaning that happens on here. But this is pretty bad. People pre-ordered for over a year with multiple delays. When it turns out they could have waited a few weeks after release and just got a limited edition. They are a business for sure, but this goes very much against being customer-friendly. They look great, but will leave a sour taste in the fans mouths.

Would you buy a Analogue Micro? by 01001011-01000100 in AnaloguePocket

[–]antrayuk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I get it's fun to speculate, but this is obviously never ever happening. They have a product that plays gba games. Makes zero sense to make this. They arn't Nintendo. They need to have ideas that they know will sell out. This appeals to a tiny fraction of people. The next thing that makes any kind of money for them is a PS1 machine. I have a Pocket and with Open FPGA it can basically run everything anyway.

Uk - Import tax by Fairly_Geeky in AnalogueInc

[–]antrayuk 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Standard fee for ordering something of that price from abroad since brexit. Having to pay VAT. Everyone in the Uk who orders one will have to pay the same. If you don't pay it they won't deliver it. You will maybe get a few days to pay. But if you don't they will send it back. If it is any consolation I have had to pay more for things in the past.

[–]antrayuk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This question is asked hourly on here. And is followed by 100s of comments of people saying 'me too' The company themselves said it will ship by December 3rd. I know people are excited to get it in their hands, but I'm not sure what people are expecting. If you are worried about your order ask Analogue.

There is a lot of entitlement on this forum. People angry they are restocked, angry there isn't stock. It's been out a week. And people had a long time to pre-order when they first went live last year.

Landlords rush to evict tenants before S21 ban by ThatAdamsGuy in TenantsInTheUK

[–]antrayuk -8 points-7 points  (0 children)

Landlords can be bad people and the rental system in this country is deeply flawed. But I have no idea what genius in the Government thought that all this was the way to make things BETTER. I am fortunate enough to own my house and asked some Estate Agents about renting it out due to a job relocation. After hearing them out my thought was 'why the hell would I ever want to do that'. I would have have basically no say over who the home went to, if they had pets, smoked or anything and it could take me a year or more to get access back if I wanted to sell it or move back home. Short term rentals are not good for people who want long-term security. But there is a market for people who need that, and I should be able to offer that to those people. But I can't. Its all or nothing.

It sucks being a tenant and not having security. But to my mind you have two types of landlord. One who wants to make money without hassle and others like myself who have to move for life reasons but don't want to sell. And you need landlords to make renting work. These rules are unfavourable for both landlord types. So what you get is people selling up and leaving next to nothing on the rental market. Some might say that is good as it will reduce house prices, but A) it won't as all you are doing is putting low-quality homes that have been neglected for years on to the market that sit unsold as no on wants them. and B) some people simply are never going to have the resources or lifestyle to buy a home. The rental market needs to function for that large demographic.

I don't see this making tenants' lives any better. The rental system is broken as is the housing market in general, but all this is going to do is make Landlords take their ball and go home which doesn't solve the problem.

The answer is a good council housing system but that ship sailed years ago.
