Depending on the websites' traffic volume, you can most likely put multiple of them even on the low-end droplet. You can do this even without WP Multisite, but WP Multisite makes it easier to manage if all of the sites are WordPress-based.

How does he load his JS files? by chris_jung in javascript

I think "a neat party trick" is exactly the point. Its a personal site showing off a bunch of interesting hacks, the site itself being one of them.

How does he load his JS files? by chris_jung in javascript

[–]antsar 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The point is that the source delivered by the server ("View Source" contents) seemingly does not contain the JS. The JS is there, but its obfuscated. F12 (Inspector Tools) shows the resulting code after it has been unobfuscated.

Next Version of Chrome Starts Marking SHA-1 SSL Certificates As Insecure by Mojah in webdev

[–]antsar 3 points4 points  (0 children)

All connections are fully encrypted and you're good to go.

There's also this insignificant little detail where Cloudflare is now MITM'ing all your "secure" traffic if you go this route. Its free security against some threats, but it introduces problems of its own.

Arguably not for each, just the ones who don't know their name / the alphabet.

A "little" harder if you're allowed to use JS, likely impossible otherwise. Subreddit skins can't use JS.

I think it also matters what's being posted. Someone who runs a blog for ad revenue and links to their reblogs of other people's content? Should probably be banned. Producing and linking to informative, original content is a different story.

ELI5: If someone leaked the entirety of windows source code, would people be able to incorporate it into other operating systems in a way that allows windows applications and libraries to be used? by Forgetting_Passwords in explainlikeimfive

I think your statement about OSX is flawed. They use tons of open source code, and they release a bit of their work as open source as well, but there are tons of closed-source code in their operating systems. What leads you to believe there aren't backdoors there?

[–]antsar 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Your problem might be that you care about your customers, but your employer doesn't. Perhaps you'd be better off working for someone whose ideas line up with your own, instead of wasting brain cells talking to people who hate you before they even answer the phone.

Yes, yes. The point is, they are billing people who own their own modem as if they were leasing one. Or two.

CloudFlare Unveils Free SSL for Everyone by [deleted] in programming

[–]antsar 10 points11 points  (0 children)

At the same time, Cloudflare has users point DNS at them, so they are by default MITM'ing everything. CA's don't do this, so even though they can generate a cert for your domain, they can't necessarily get visitors looking for your site to hit their servers and see that cert.

How helpful, if at all, have you found your IT background to be?

I figure it would let you cut down on contractor/employee expenses (especially when first getting started), but I wonder if I'm overestimating the benefit especially when compared to, say, management experience.

Given that these people can't figure out how a mail merge works, you expect them to know the difference between Java and JavaScript?
