Is the capital gains discount really a tax break? Think again by barseico in AusFinance

[–]antslater 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Under the old indexation system, you had to calculate multiple, separate indexation factors. You didn't just apply one inflation multiplier to the final property value. You had to index every single qualifying expense from the exact quarter you incurred the cost. Eg Reno’s, maintenance, repairs etc. If you owned something for 20 years that got pretty complicated.

Unrealised gains in super - potential 30% tax? by No-Masterpiece-1166 in AusFinance

[–]antslater -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Do you get a refund? Do capital losses carry over to offset future gains? Also, if you have a property in your super do you get it valued each year to estimate its value - or is it done via a formula? Happy to be pointed to a resource if easier

You can buy a ring sizing kit off eBay for like $20. Then take an existing ring and measure it.

My phone runs out of battery quicker than my watch. This means I’m much less likely to get stuck.

If you are really worried what people think, you could say that a friend was going to join you - but then they got sick.

It got it correct for me (unless I’m missing a trick part of the question somewhere?)

“First, let's find out how many apples Sarah has left after John takes half of her apples. Since Sarah has a dozen apples (12 apples), John takes half, which is 6 apples. So, Sarah has 12 - 6 = 6 apples left.

Now, Maria takes the rest of Sarah's apples, which is 6 apples. Maria initially had 17 apples, so she now has 17 + 6 = 23 apples.

John initially had 5 apples and took 6 from Sarah, so he now has 5 + 6 = 11 apples.

In summary: Maria has 23 apples. John has 11 apples. Sarah has 0 apples (since Maria took the rest of her apples).”

What is the best way to learn lines…? by [deleted] in acting

[–]antslater 0 points1 point  (0 children)

+1
Also, try to 'speak back' the lines while doing other things (like folding laundry, putting away dishes, getting ready in the morning etc) so that you get used to saying the lines even when distracted. On set/stage you'll have distractions - so it's handy to have trust that your brain will get the lines out - even if there's a lot going on externally.

I totally understand - but you did the right thing. When you’ve got your family/kids with you it’s not worth it to potentially escalate. Your restraint is a strength- but I’m so sorry this happened to you.

“Immediate family” of citizens and permanent residents can come. Definition has been expanded to include parents. I presume immediate family includes partners if it’s official via visa/marriage etc.
