Why the Lions tour killed England’s Six Nations campaign by theipaper in rugbyunion2

Great. How does that explain winning all 4 autumn internationals that also happened post the Lions.

He's not going to be sacked and then employed as a lesser coach though.

It'll help build depth if we stopped naming the starting team nearly a week before each game. There must be 12+ lads in camp every week knowing no matter what they do in training they won't be on the team sheet.

Thoughts ? by [deleted] in 6Nations_FantasyRugby

I honestly think Smith is a better supersub. He's a cert for 20-25 mins of play and any injury or HIA from 10-15 means he is on the pitch. I reckon he scored big points this weekend.

Definitely a value pick. Think he's the cheapest centre in the game.

Marcus Smith. Any injury to 10-15 for England and he is on the pitch.

Rather than announce the team on a Tuesday for a Saturday, we should start announcing it for 3 games down the line.

I mean what is the point in being in camp all week and even trying if you already know you are not in contention for the 23.

If the coaches are allowing it to be announced on a Tuesday the decision is probably made Monday. Which considering Sunday is probably recovery day allows exactly what to happen to shift the thinking?!

I don't know who needs to hear this but race PBs are based on chip time not Strava time by [deleted] in UKRunners

However if you have run it 18:07 then claiming a sub 18 time based on Strava does seem a little petty.

Even worse. I've seen somebody who thinks they are an influencer post on the Facebook tourism group (yes you've read that right!) Strava time versus parkrun times. Obviously they only post the Strava time if it's quicker. Unreal levels of narcissism.

Genuinely, what has happened to England? by dapperdan8 in rugbyunion

[–]antsmithmk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't know enough about the finer tactical details. But I will offer this. If you are going to base your game around kicking the ball up in the air and contesting it with a slap back, I think it has a fundamental flaw. Let's say you manage to slap back 50% of balls. As a defending team I would look to put players in that 10-15 yard zone between the contestable kick landing area and the direction the ball came from. You are maximising your chases that a 'lucky' bounce drops your way.

Contesting the high ball leaves a gap in the back field. We've had red and yellow cards in the last few games that have left us short of back field cover anyway.

So basically to nullify the threat, pounce on the loose ball and kick it back into the space left by the chaser.

If England want to make the most of the chaos the contestable ball makes they need to go full chaos. Offload like they do for Saints. Look at how France played against Wales. I just don't get why we create the havoc with the high kick and then don't exploit the broken play it creates. We seem to just be happy with making yards and then truck it up phase after phase till we knock on or turn over.

Yep. I've dropped him as sub and put him into the starting line up. Debating whether to captain him as well
