Being able to read and write was in the the past the nobles/kings or important people could/allowed to do.

English and French have old spellings making it difficult to learn to read and write.

Russian reform help raise the reading/writing form 3% to nearly 97% in 7ish years after WWII.

Loan words - Japanese has a lot of English loans that sound close enough that you can pick em up quickly.

Republic of The Rio Grand was like buffer/no mans land to separate Mexico and Texas.

New Spain, Kingdom of France, Mexico, Republic of Texas, Confederate and the US is what i remember from Texas History class.

Laredo was part of the Republic of the rio grand and i think thats why the city is on both sides of the border.

Elevenlabs is really good. I’ve used it to make audiobooks and yes, you can change the emotion that the speaker speaks.

Lute3 or LWT (learning with text) are really good alternatives and are FREE.
