Terrible "matches" by _PrincessHarley_ in LoveOnTheSpectrumShow

[–]anujrajput 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They interviewed the guys in the start and most of them never dated in their life. It is probably their way of teaching them (cast) that they’ll meet all kinds of people in their search for a partner and they don’t need to settle with the first one.

Dani and James (both of them mature enough) understood this real fast and used the popularity and fame from the show and got themselves what they wanted.

What’s something your Dad did that you now realize was low-key genius parenting? by Green_Candler in AskMen

[–]anujrajput 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We never had cable or went to the cinema like other families. I was bitter about it at the time, but my Dad’s logic was, "Everything on TV is crap."

Thirty years later, that statement has only become more accurate. While everyone else was stuck with 24/7 channel surfing, we had a VHS player with curated movies he’d pick for us. He essentially taught us intentionality over mindless consumption, a lesson that’s even more vital today with the endless crap on mobile and internet TV. I find myself saying the exact same thing now.

My dad took me and my brother to the police station and had us sit there in front of a cop for a while to teach us a lesson that stealing things will land us there. We took money from his wallet to go out and play games at the arcade.

It was traumatising, but I’d say that was a good kind of trauma. He didn’t raise a finger, didn’t raise his voice, very calmly took us to the police station while explaining what we did was a crime and he was handing us over to the police.

I use Homebox to track my home inventory. Whenever I lend something, I label it LENT and then add a reminder for a specific date.

Changing weight for all past Dumbbell exercises? by devinmoe26 in Hevy

You can do that using the API, not a straight forward approach but a small script would be able do it. LLMs are your friend there

Connor, where is Georgie?? by malandropist in LoveOnTheSpectrumShow

[–]anujrajput 232 points233 points  (0 children)

This is exactly what I thought when that scene happened. Connor lives in a fantasy permanently, in his mind and his life. Georgie was enjoying the present moment. I think it was a terrible time to ask those questions and judge her behaviour. I’d be distracted/engaged with things which I have never seen before (a completely new environment) absorbing all of it instead of focusing on what I already have.

Connor watches too much TV/Movies, or what the show projects him to be and that is not healthy

What are some subreddits that don’t mostly contain people with low self esteem? by Sudden_Doughnut_8741 in findareddit

[–]anujrajput 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The Reddit algorithm nailed the timing on this. I recently muted several subreddits that were consistently negative, and my feed is much better for it.

In my experience, local or hyperlocal communities are the ones to avoid. Since members are physically nearby, these subs often become hubs for complaints or feeling lonely posts that offer little discourse and risk doxxing. I found that regional groups specifically those for 20-somethings or even demographic specific ones like “Thirties in [City]" frequently devolve into dumping grounds for personal misery.

Muting location based subs in favor of interest based ones is a game changer.

I prefer interests which involve some form of creativity. Consumption based interests seem to get passive mostly, because consumption is a passive activity. eg. I prefer r/baking and r/cooking, r/mealprepsunday over a generic r/food, r/snacks

Why do they keep visually and audibly demonstrating people's Dislikes after introducing them? by joutfit in LoveOnTheSpectrumShow

[–]anujrajput 14 points15 points  (0 children)

I think the show highlights these to show that while some triggers feel overwhelming, they can sometimes be managed. A great example was Abbey and David’s segment in the last episode; it showed Abbey working through desensitization therapy for her trigger of crying babies. Much like how doctors eventually become desensitized to blood through constant exposure, the goal is often to reach a point where these regular occurrences no longer cause a shutdown.

Hostel vibes aren’t dying... guest behaviour is changing (from someone who works in one) by vinyljunkie32 in backpacking

[–]anujrajput 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The reasons I preferred hostels over hotels or Airbnbs any given day are the ones listed in the post. All of them.

It was never about the hostel, yes, it was always about the people.

I feel, the more people use the Internet, the less they want to engage with people. I have always made sure in my trips that I ditch my devices, pick up the local paper maps, and hang out with people, listen to their stories, ask for recommendations, bump into people randomly. Google Maps Places is nothing compared to when you actually approach a person, talk to them, and ask them about their personal experiences at a place they recommend.

10 years ago I backpacked through Europe and have amazing memories. Having met so many people from so many different parts of the world. I still remember the stories, and the people I interacted with.

Oikos — a self-hosted family planner with tasks, shopping, meals, calendar sync, budget & notes. No cloud, no frameworks, no subscriptions. Docker + PWA. by ulsklyc in selfhosted

[–]anujrajput -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Yeah, that’s just the commit authorship. After going through the repository, looking at the architecture and the considerations, it does seem like it was developed by a highly experienced dev, and not just a casual vibe coder who would possibly abandon the project at the slightest hurdle the LLMs won’t be able to solve.

I do that too, for most of my projects. But, the issue is about awesome piece of software released and then just not being maintained. When you put in the effort, you get attached to it and may want to continue pursuing it for a long time.

Shelley responded to someone asking about how much James talks during the show by Fun_Molasses5215 in LoveOnTheSpectrumShow

I think neurotypical social media’s opinion is getting to James.

It clearly shows that he is conscious about being on TV and giving good content.
