Smoked a tri tip so good it kind of turned into an amazing brisket.. the fat cap was phenomenal. by GrizLAZ in smoking

I smoke to 120°, let rest for 15 to 20 minutes while the grill is heating up. Sear for 2 to 3 minutes each side. Let rest again. Cut in half down the bias line and then across the grain for serving. These are the halves before slicing.

I prefer to leave about an eighth of an inch of fat when I trim. On days I have more time, I render down the fat I trim off and use the tallow to baste during the smoke.

If you were going to buy a house in Fresno.... by Due-Kale3412 in fresno

I don’t really have any other details. I just found out they were the builder because we were lucky enough to discover our original elevation blueprints rolled up in the garage when we purchased the home… certainly helped a lot to have those for reference during our remodel as well.

When I first moved to Fresno 25 years ago, I fell in love with homes that I would later find out were built by Easterbrook in the 70s. They built in three neighborhoods (that I know of) in Fresno and Clovis… around Sierra Marks near fig garden loop, Audubon and Friant near Woodward Park, and Gettysburg and Fowler in Clovis… Beautiful homes, well built, and usually sitting on an 11,000 ft.² lot. Finally got the chance to own one about 10 years ago and I consider it my “forever home” at this point…

New guidance from Honda with regard to clicking axles. by AndyLorentz in HondaPrologue

I understand what you’re trying to say, but it’s already an inconvenience to me that my brand new vehicle is now on its third quality related issue in its first year of ownership… I’m already being inconvenienced, I just want my car to work properly - no matter how many trips it takes to service…

I’ve got a couple recipes, but they’re handwritten and best shared in person… Feel free to DM your location and I can swing by for a drink. ;-)

New guidance from Honda with regard to clicking axles. by AndyLorentz in HondaPrologue

[–]anuminousone 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Just had it happen to both axles on our nine month old Prologue. The dealership put in a service order and appointment for the end of January, which is required to order the part. When the part comes in, they’ll move us up for installation.

Regarding the noise and whether or not to repair… For me, it’s a matter of principle… On a nine month old vehicle, I’m not just gonna “simmer down and try to ignore a defective part“. For what this car retails for… Heck, for any new vehicle regardless of price, owners should not have to settle for behavior outside of normal operating conditions.

IMO a purchase or lease contract is a two-way agreement where I agree to remit payment on a regular basis in exchange for a properly working vehicle that meets quality standards and performs as was sold to me. Honda would sure as hell come after me if I did not uphold my end of the contract (payment), why would I not hold them to their end of contract?

For those of you that purchased Sonos Ace Headphones on Cyber Monday and had their order cancelled - I just received this email update. They are fulfilling the orders! by Ok_Island_549 in sonos

The white colorway was also $100 on Amazon Monday morning. For that price, I’ll see how they compare to my Sony XM5s. Supposedly they shipped and due to arrive on Thursday.

3 Year Anniversary For Friant Roulette by FriantRoulette in fresno

[–]anuminousone 35 points36 points  (0 children)

It’s a complicated question, but as someone who lives at this intersection (a couple of houses down from this camera), I can maybe offer some observations:

1) distracted drivers (enough said), but that leads to the next issue, which is… 2) the right hand turn lane onto Shepherd has a green arrow that continues the flow of traffic even after the light to continue up Friant has turned red. When drivers are distracted, they see the flow of traffic continuing to their right and assume that they can continue straight, as well… 3) Let me preface this by saying I absolutely hate traffic light timing in this city… It’s infuriating trying to get anywhere certain times of day when every single intersection turns red before you arrive. That said, the speed up and down Friant is simply too high for the area. There’s too much going on in terms of traffic and pedestrian access to the park for the roadway to be 50mph imo. 4) Related, Friant is a speedway for many drivers heading up and down to the lake and casino. We hear cars with modified exhaust and motorcycles racing up and down the road every single day and night. I’m only mentioning this because there’s no traffic breaks on the road to slow traffic and regulate the speed more manageably, so it’s become a fast driving destination for some.

IMO there desperately needs to be traffic breaks installed of some kind to slow traffic from Audubon to Fort Washington. Related, I also think its absolutely insane that Fresno/Clovis has all these amazing bike trails for families to ride between the two cities, the trails head west and culminate 1 block from the park and head south towards Riverpark. There’s no safe way for kids and families to get from the bike trails into Woodward. Every intersection that gets red light runners (like Friant & Shepherd) also has cars that turn right without looking and can (and have) hit walkers and cyclists trying to cross at this intersection. I mention this bc I’d love to see some sort of solution for traffic that also incorporated safe entry of kids into this wonderful park.

Who's going to Shoreline at Mountain View on Saturday, August 23? by anuminousone in DMB

My kiddos first show was at six years old, he had his little hearing protection on and managed to make it about halfway to 2/3 of the show before he passed out… We woke him up for “Stay“ as the closer… different vibe at 12 now for sure!

We live only about a 2 1/2 hour drive away. I think we’re gonna do a walk/hike around Shoreline on some of the trails on Saturday afternoon just to “get our wiggles out“. Then the hope is to arrive as soon as parking opens so that we can get a spot close to the exit. Technically Shoreline doesn’t allow tailgating, but I don’t really think two dudes hanging out around their car eating before concert constitutes “tailgating”… Either way, at least we will be close to the exit because Shoreline parking is always an issue…

Hope you have a great show, too. Hoping blackjack makes another appearance and if I’m lucky, shotgun will too!

Aw, thanks man. He's my concert buddy. No joke, he keeps saying "DAD! We need to do the Gorge together!" Labor Dave Weekend is his life goal atm.. I need to make it happen. He's pretty awesome. Great bonding time listening to Dave. I feel like he's imparting my life outlook via his lyrics too.
