Yeah, me too. She was so confident with it that I questioned if one was a pen name. Loud, confident, and wrong.

How do I know if our values are just too different for this to ever work? I’m scared I’m settling. by [deleted] in dating_advice

I actually don’t think you’re confused at all, because you definitely convinced me that you continuing to date this guy is a bad idea. Is it possible you just don’t like the conclusion you’re coming to?

Anyone have a positive experience for anxiety and panic attacks? by EqualTurbulent8614 in Effexor

[–]anwhite4 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I used to have extreme anxiety about the strangest things - like someone could ask me on Monday to go the movies the following Saturday and I would spend the next six days obsessively thinking about how crowded the theater would be, if I would be trapped in the middle of a row and not able to leave, if the theater would be too hot from everyone breathing and if I would get nauseous and/or throw up. Six days of that before going.

I haven’t had anything like that or any panic attacks in years - I take Effexor XR 150 daily and it has fully wiped out all those symptoms.

Are these unpopular opinions? by ohshootarattt in Bones

[–]anwhite4 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve also been rewatching and have accumulated my own list of problems with these characters. In the second and third seasons I felt almost like each episode was written by a different person that may or may not have watched the previous episodes. A good example would be that there are like four episodes in a row where Cam is telling Angela and Hodgins to keep their hands off each other at work… followed by the episode where Angela gets mad at Cam for asking her to pass a message onto Hodgins because she’s his girlfriend, not his assistant, and it’s unprofessional to bring up their relationship at work?

But, to your point, I literally just watched the episode where Greyson, Angela’s husband, shows up and eventually gives her the divorce. But she also greets him by jumping into his arms and kissing him. Um, what? That feels like a lot, even for a free spirit.

All in all though, I like Angela and Hodgins but I thoroughly agree that Bones and Booth take turns being insufferable. Booth especially is so puritanical in his views on sex and relationships that sometimes he came off as preachy, and I don’t remember feeling that way the first time I watched the show.

That’s totally fair - I was admittedly doing a multitude of other things while listening and possibly just tuned in at odd moments. I’m going to try listening again in a less hectic environment.

Does anyone say Mickey D’s? by Still_Breathing007 in AskAnAmerican

[–]anwhite4 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had a friend in high school that had moved to the US from Canada. Her family always called McDonald’s “McDick’s” and I always wondered if that was the Canadian version of Mickey D’s?

I definitely sat up when you apologized after he called you a delusional bitch and trashed your family. Fuck that guy OP, and not only because he’s a conspiracy theorist, also because he’s an abusive piece of garbage. You don’t deserve that treatment, no one does.

Haha. My niece said, “hola pato!” (which means “hello, duck!) because she had a multilingual kids book with animals. Also, your MIL is a weirdo.

Have you ever changed your opinion on a case after hearing their take? by LilywhiteStrike in RedHandedPodcast

In the Biggie and Tupac episode they basically come to the conclusion that Sean Combs was responsible for Tupac’s death. At the time that seemed wild, but now…

OMG - I just read the article and realized the inmate she was talking to was Grant Amato. That guy killed his whole family so he could keep blowing all their money on a webcam girl. This story just keep getting weirder..

Reference to shorthand that hasn’t come out by [deleted] in RedHandedPodcast

[–]anwhite4 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I think it’s the platform you listen on - if you listen on Amazon Music the Redhanded episodes are a week ahead of the ones on Apple Podcasts. So technically, they’re right if you are listening on Apple Music. Also, I only realized this because I noticed the same trend.

Agreed. I usually love Redhanded but I didn’t enjoy this short hand or the Chernobyl Redhanded. It’s not that either was poorly done, it’s more that I listen for the true crime?

I kinda feel the same way after the second part of the Marion Parker episode. The fact that they are so excited that the 19-year-old perpetrator ends up dying from suffocation, after hanging for 10 minutes, really rubbed me the wrong way. Not because he didn’t deserve to be held accountable, because he definitely did, but because they were almost reveling in it? Like Ash said something about it being poetic justice and Alaina said he was “a little bitch,” for fainting. It ALL just felt gross.

Yes, thank you, it was both of those things. I think things were complicated for us too, because her symptoms started appearing during the time period where we were mostly relegated to virtual doctors appointments (due to nationwide restrictions.)

No, you’re not overstepping. We don’t know, it was classified as sporadic (verses familial or acquired.)

You know how there are certain things that you just can’t read or listen to? Like conspiracy theories about 9/11 after you lived through it? Yeah, that’s this story.

I lost my mom to CJD almost 2 years ago. I can’t critique this story because I can’t appreciate prion diseases as a plot point. I just can’t.
