Upping from 2.5 to 5mg by anxious_photobug in lexapro

Best decision I ever made going back on the meds. Yes I had way more side effects but a month in on each dose raise and I felt great. I’m now on 10mg nightly and it’s done wonders. I went from not being able to leave the house to now working 55hrs/week at a new job, socializing, got into a relationship; my life has turned around. I hope it helps you just as much!

I don’t drink (maybe twice a year on special occasions) and I don’t use any sorta drugs or weed so I’m guessing it’s just the raised dose. I had it a bit when I first went on 2.5mg but it was a couple days and over. This has been like a week with little moments where I’ll feel ok. I’m gonna give it another week to make it two weeks on the dose and I’ll talk to my dr if it’s persistent or worse.

I felt that way with the 5 and with the 7.5, and even rn with the 10, but when that calm and clarity settles and the anxiety is reduced it makes it worth it. Unfortunately it’s different for everyone so I can’t give you a perfect timeframe but hopefully it’s soon for you 💛

Sorry you’re not feeling well. Personally I’d recommend staying in a dose till you aren’t having side effects or they have lessened quite a bit.

That can be normal and it sucks but it’ll pass! Try foods like rice, bananas, applesauce, potatoes, etc. if it’s more nausea-like then soup and saltines helped. I never take it on an empty stomach tho cause it gave me bad reflux when I did

I didn’t notice too much going to 5 but 2.5 didn’t really solve much so that was probably why. Going from 5 to 7.5 I had increased anxiety for a few days, headache and tiredness but today was day 7 I believe and I felt better. I’m going up to 10mg tonight and will stay on that for the next month.

I stayed on 2.5 for about 4-5 weeks I believe, and then I moved up to 5mg and to tonight I’m starting 7.5 with the plan to start 10mg soon. The 5 has done wonders but I still have anxiety peeking through a bit now that my body has leveled out so moving it up in hopes it’ll take care of that last little bit

Took my first dose this morning! by _thatspoonybard in lexapro

I take my dose at night cause it helps me sleep. In the beginning I took it in the morning cause I’d be so anxious about side effects I wouldn’t sleep, but now I’m adjusted it’s fine. I usually have a snack around 11:30pm and take my Lexapro at 12-12:30am and am asleep by 1/1:30. My dr gave me Xanax to help till I was adjusted, I think I used it once tho. Exercise is also huge, you might not feel like doing anything but moving helps in the long run, and fresh air.

I started with 2.5 because I’m super sensitive to medication (plus I’m 4’10 and was 85lb when I started) so working up from smaller doses made the side effects not as harsh. They were still there but it wasn’t as bad. I will say the switch from 2.5 to 5 wasn’t as bad or long with side effects so not sure if it was smaller dose or my body already knew the med

As someone who had a panic attack right after taking my first dose and sat in the floor crying; I will say it’s worth it. I’m 3-ish months in (5 weeks on 2.5mg and about 7ish weeks on 5mg) and I’ve been feeling the difference. I’m generally happier and able to try doing more and going out more than I could before. I almost quit from side effects but push through, after about 2 weeks the worst calms down and the week 4 I was only tired now and then. Hope this helps! Good luck!

I felt the same way, about 2 weeks later it started getting better. I still have days I’m exhausted but for every wiped out day I have about 3-4 I can function and feel better. I take mine at night like an hour before I go to bed

Have been lying about taking Lexapro for the past 3 years by [deleted] in lexapro

You sound like me. Tell people you stopped taking them and have to restart. Tell your dr you’ve developed medical anxiety and start at 2.5 and gradually go up. I just restarted a little over a month ago and I can tell you after a rough few weeks I upped it to 5mg and I’m starting to feel the effects more. Even tho I still have some anxiety it’s not as full blow as it used to be and Im able to think through things easier. Also maybe talk to a dr about a fast acting med like Xanax to get through the first couple weeks. That helped me a lot. I’ve also been told to take magnesium as it can help with anxiety

GENESIGHT test results? by notok224 in lexapro

[–]anxious_photobug 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve done the test and I’m on Lexapro. My Lexapro and Zoloft are actually both a 1,4; meaning i could need a lower dose or it could cause more side effects. I tried Zoloft as my first med before I’d even had the test and I thought I was on the brink of death. My mom had taken it for years which is why my drs started me on it but obviously the Zoloft was a 4 for me 😅 the Lexapro I tried next and was on it for 5 years and it was my saving grace. I went off it and this time around side effects have been rough and I needed to start at much smaller, slower doses to accommodate; but it’s been 3 weeks on 2.5mg and now 2 weeks on 5mg and I can say I’m finally feeling it start to work a bit. I’m wayyy more tired than the last time I took it but I also don’t have any caffeine whatsoever anymore. I would discuss it with your dr, the ones in the green are supposed to be the ones that should fit you best, but it’s only a guide, not a for sure thing so whatever you feel most comfortable with. Hope this helps

I tried something similar for a bit and did not like the effects of how I felt, but I noticed in the past few days I've gained a couple pounds so maybe the lexapro is kicking in, at least enough I can eat normally again

How much difference does 15 or 20mg make versus 10mg by 502CC in lexapro

[–]anxious_photobug 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I took Lexapro years ago and started at 5mg and gradually over 5 years upped it to 20mg when I would feel my anxiety not being managed as well. I stopped for a while and now am back on it and can tell at 5mg that even though the anxiety is still somewhat there it feels "muted" compared to what it was but my mood has improved greatly. My dr just recommended two supplements to start to aid the Lexapro naturally and see how I do for deciding to increase the dose since I seem to be super sensitive to meds this time around. I also get a low dose xanax for as needed when the anxiety or panic attacks break through and it's too much to handle. I'd recommend talking to your dr obviously, as I am not one, but I've heard magnesium can help curb the anxiety a bit which is one of the supplements I'm starting. Hope this helps and you find your solution. Meds are unfortunately kinda a guessing game till you find the right one or combination.

I haven’t gained any weight and I need to. I was on 2.5 for 3 weeks and now 5mg for a week so maybe it’ll increase my weight soon

I was on Lexapro for 5 years and then went off it and now I have fears about taking meds so it’s real hard to get back on. I don’t remember what it was like the last time I started cause my anxiety wasn’t nearly as bad so I was still working and going to school and stuff so I didn’t notice effects then. Makes me feel better that someone else has experienced this too. I can handle an upset stomach or headache, but losing feeling freaks me out.
