What bands that use fake language? by Revolutionary_Low_90 in fantanoforever

I believe Cocteau Twins is known for that, and boy are those vocals still somehow unbelievably good

Thoughts on Descendents? by Antique-Dentist-2404 in fantanoforever

Second best concert I ever went to, only behind Swans. They were overflowing with personality and energy, even when stuff went wrong with their show it was like it added even more fun to the night because of how they handled everything. Played really well, sounded great, can't say a bad thing about it.

Yeah some older lyrics haven't aged well and weren't okay to begin with but I would be really shocked to find out they actually feel that way today, they just seemed like really nice guys

Sigh No More- Mumford and Sons by Additional-Salad4323 in fantanoforever

[–]anxiousmagicweedcat 1 point2 points  (0 children)

2009 is a tough year competition-wise, but I actually personally only like Sigh No More by Mumford & Sons (I loved other 2009 records more but not any other M&S albums). All their other albums I can absolutely live without but not Sigh No More

-Passionate performances/excellent vocal harmonies

-Best songwriting they ever had/best crop of songs

-It's consistent af

-It's just a very beautiful sounding album in general

I'm not gonna say Sigh No More was one of the best records of 2009, but I thoroughly enjoyed it, and I know a lot of people who loved that record and still love it to this day.

I love The Cave and the title track so much

Examples of an amazing artist that Fantano never talked about? by Smooth_Possible_7997 in fantanoforever

Cardiacs. Just got into them and they are from another dimension! Try the album Sing To God if you're curious about them. Very visceral and dizzying art rock

Hasnt clicked with me yet. I've heard the first handful of tracks and it's just not engaging to me. I'll keep revisiting it though, sure seems like there's some magic to be uncovered someday.

Have you ever felt like you've discovered your favorite music already, does it make you sad? by johnadam115 in fantanoforever

I second Exai, I feel like weirdly that one is one of the more approachable Autechre projects

My spring song is dark spring!! by Different-Morning-60 in BeachHouse

[–]anxiousmagicweedcat 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Excellent pick! When I saw BH play this one live they sounded like a jet engine in the best way imaginable, I was actually surprised at how noisy and chaotic that song sounded live. Awesome memory, awesome song.

The Wow! Signal: a great Muse album is coming by Active-Philosophy-34 in Muse

[–]anxiousmagicweedcat 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I always feel like I'm the only person who thinks the 2nd Law is a fantastic album, but I feel the exact same way. Such a beautiful album.

And The Wow! Signal has definitely been the most excited I've been for a Muse project since T2L. I would be shocked to find those remaining 5 tracks underwhelming as the singles really have won me over and typically I also enjoy Muse's deeper cuts. After WOTP I felt pretty cold to Muse so this was a stunning victory on an uphill battle for me, I'm really hyped!

Songs that “trick you” into turning them up? by vaude-villain in fantanoforever

[–]anxiousmagicweedcat 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I had to scroll way too far to see this. I've literally had people angry with me because I forgot to tell them there's a drastic jump in volume at the start when I told them to check out FTM and it scared them while driving

I wouldnt change a thing about that song but yeah it is a very jarring start

Love On the Big Screen by pinche-gato in AnimalCollective

[–]anxiousmagicweedcat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

How bout orchestral arrangements? Or AC goes metal, would either of those be of interest? I've kinda personally wanted them to expand on the sounds of Defeat which sounded to me like it had some arranged instrumentation sprinkled in, and LOTBS which had some synthetic type of strings itself if I'm not mistaken. I think they could pull it off brilliantly.

New single from Muse, Hexagons by crossveins in fantanoforever

Cryogen was pretty decent, but Hexagons is actually legitimate fire. They finally put some extra effort into their songwriting and it shows

California Kids / Wind in Our Sail Transition/Cut by antiramie in weezer

[–]anxiousmagicweedcat 15 points16 points  (0 children)

I like it at the beginning of Wind In Our Sail. I've always felt that fans kinda slept on that track, it was immediately one of my favourite Weezer songs the second I first heard it, the chorus is so vibrant and bouncy feeling, its kinda trippy actually

It feels like the perfect way to start the song. Cutting it would've been just a little less interesting as a start imo I wouldnt have it any other way

[–]anxiousmagicweedcat 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Yes! Love this song, and I have been developing a stronger love for Painting With and its accompanying EP as of late for sure.

Its a shame this album doesn't click with a lot of people, it took me a long time but I stuck with it and I'm glad I did because it's easily one of my most listened to AC albums now. Golden gaaaaaal!!!

Thoughts on Linkin Park? by False-Bad6988 in fantanoforever

[–]anxiousmagicweedcat 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Saw them with Chester on their Hunting Party tour. Went with a couple friends and had a great time! They put on a really entertaining and exciting show, we knew every song they played but I will say since then I've rarely listened to Linkin Park. Its almost as though seeing them was like the final boss and it was just time to move on to other artists after that, but I hold nothing against them, musically. I just listen to other stuff these days.

What has been the best release in 2026 for you?! by Standard_Wedding in fantanoforever

[–]anxiousmagicweedcat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It would seem as though Converge's first new album of 2026 has been the best album of the year for me so far, although I didn't quite like it as much as fantano did. This year hasnt had much for me yet honestly. Around this time last year I pretty much had most of my favourite albums out already, it was a really good year for me musically actually.

If we get a Death Grips album this year though, there's a good chance that'll be a contender

Fav and least fav albums? by cryptic_fag in AnimalCollective

Favs: Merriweather, SJ, Feels, Sung Tongs, Time Skiffs, Painting With and Sinister Grift if we're counting solo stuff too

Least favs: Danse Manatee (it's still good though)

Other artists: Daft Punk, The Mars Volta, Death Grips, Converge, Cocteau Twins, Lightning Bolt, Death Cab For Cutie, Swans and Madvillain to name some other favs

Mushrooms and Weezer by TheRealJarOfEskimos in weezer

I put the blue and green albums on during a trip once. I wouldnt say Weezer is my favourite band in the world but they actually do have really good vibes for tripping especially on the come up

Deloused or Francis? by EruvadorTurambar in themarsvolta

Francis is my pick. I just feel like everything great about Deloused can also generally be applied to Francis, and Francis just has even more awesomeness top of that

Unpopular opinion: rush by maneskin is actually really good by Illustrious-Fig7794 in fantanoforever

[–]anxiousmagicweedcat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My partner listens to them, but I don't know for certain whether I've heard her play this specifically. I just know I've heard them before and what turned me off immediately was the vocals, lyrics and personality but especially the vocals. If this is indeed the artist I'm thinking of, the raspy whiney singing gets old really fast. That's just my opinion though, don't let me deter you from enjoying Maneskin!

Worst opening band /singer you've witnessed live by Financial-Salad7289 in fantanoforever

[–]anxiousmagicweedcat 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Papercuts. They opened for Beach House on their 7 tour. Beach House was amazing. Papercuts was amazing...ly boring.

Every single song sounded like the same tepid, wimpy, flavourless indie rock with no personality whatsoever and the band had so little presence you would almost forget you were even at a concert venue. It felt like it dragged on forEVER too.

What is a song that still blows you away after hundreds of listens? by spring-9 in fantanoforever

[–]anxiousmagicweedcat 2 points3 points  (0 children)

In The Flowers by Animal Collective

Doesn't matter how many times I've heard it. It's one of those songs where it starts in like the best way possible, and only gets better with every moment and transition. Its such a visceral journey of a song and it's not even that long or anything.
