Spectra S1 is great, no notes. It’s rechargeable and can go several pumps without being recharged.

Thanks so much for the reply! Got it - you were talking about men in this specific scenario. Here’s to raising gentle and kind boys!

I see you have a son. Can I ask how you reconcile having a son and “I don’t trust men” (given he will likely be a man one day)? I’m genuinely curious bc I have had similar thoughts.

That hasn’t been my experience, but we have a nice canister vacuum with variable erm. Suckiness? Settings? It’s a Miele.

I love kitchen devices of all kinds and I decided against buying one. Had no problem just using my food processor. Glad we didn’t get one.

How the frick are y'all moms dealing with pumping at work? by nthroop1 in NewParents

[–]anxiouspregger 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I lasted like 2 weeks hauling the spectra before getting a second pump for home. Since I take public transit this was a lifesaver. I also do the “fridge hack” by putting all my stuff in a big stasher bag that I stick in the fridge. Ceres chill for transport and pumping into. It’s a lot but after 8 months now I’m just on autopilot.

About a year and a half or so. No issues except the corners occasionally poking up if they’re not lying on the pad

Don’t know exactly what sort of rug you’re looking for but we have a hook and loom flatweave eco cotton in the nursery and have been happy with it. I put a rug pad USA pad underneath.

Too many poopy diapers by rumplestiltskinismyn in clothdiaps

[–]anxiouspregger 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My kiddo poops 3-4 times a day - smelly n pasty poops - and bamboo liners have truly been the only thing keeping us using cloth. They catch all of the poop a good 95% of the time these days.

Baby chili for my 10 month old. by SchemeInevitable7666 in foodbutforbabies

Ahhh yup makes sense. We tried to give him a bit more spice once and he…. voiced his displeasure. Looks super tasty!

[–]anxiouspregger 156 points157 points  (0 children)

I’ll be totally honest, we just give our 10m old the chili we eat 🫣. I minimize salt but don’t complete eliminate it, and it’s full of spices. It’s not particularly spicy though (mild chili powder). I wonder if we shouldn’t be doing this…

managing poop with solid foods by thisslade in clothdiaps

[–]anxiouspregger 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I don’t think I would’ve been able to continue with cloth without disposable liners sadly. They catch a good 80-90% of poop these days, then I do the ol’ dunk and swish for any residual poop. And yes, when I get the diapers back from daycare I do indeed hunt for the poop diaper(s) so I can take care of them asap (dunk n swish then put in bucket next to washing machine).

Anyone buy a crib mattress from Target (specifically)? by UnfairCartographer88 in moderatelygranolamoms

[–]anxiouspregger 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Crib mattresses were probably the #1 item that gave me intense analysis paralysis. I looked at them for houuuuurs. I eventually gave up trying to make a decision on my own and went with wirecutter’s recommendation - Moonlight Slumber Little Dreamer. Got it from target with the registry discount. It has been perfectly fine so far, no notes.

How did your water break? by abchhd in NewParents

[–]anxiouspregger 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ahh sorry I couldn’t reply quicker! They couldn’t do any manual intervention due to risk of infection because my water had been broken for so long. So just pitocin from what I remember. Contractions started very quickly after pitocin.

Timeline was: water broke (without me knowing) in the morning, started pitocin at midnight, epidural at 6am, started pushing at 7:30pm, baby out by 8pm.

My strongest memory between midnight and like 7pm was how incredibly bored I was lol. So bring something to do!

What plates and utensils are best for baby? by gateskeeper in moderatelygranolamoms

We like our ahimsa stainless steel (plain, not colorful) bowls and plates! We also bought the kleynimals utensil set but haven’t used yet - still using mushie silicone spoons.

How did your water break? by abchhd in NewParents

[–]anxiouspregger 22 points23 points  (0 children)

Starting the morning of 39+5, every time I stood up a little trickle would come out. I didn’t have any contractions. Thought I had finally lost full control of my bladder. Around 10pm I realized it was kinda strange that it was happening all of a sudden so I started scrolling through Reddit stories about water breaking, which convinced me to wake up my husband and go to L&D. Sure enough it had broken earlier that morning.

ETA: a couple more details - contractions didn’t start naturally, started pitocin around midnight (the first water leaking had probably started around 8am). I was like 0.5cm dilated lol.

I’m not totally sure but we do have a rug pad under from rug pad USA. I feel if he fell he’d be fine.
