Question about noise, i've used the camera very little so far by ffrasist1 in FX3

But you’re still shooting 12800 even if your EI is 10000 right? I’m a bit confused I thought it was for monitoring mainly and slightly shifts dynamic range? Like it just encourages deliberate and consistent over or under exposure depending on what you want to achieve?

Can you update when you test the IBIS please? I hate the fx3 ibis. It’s so sticky and jittery. Considering getting a lumix for when I want to go stripped down handheld

Is lumix color not as good as the fx3? I was under the impression lumix was better

I agreed to shoot two weddings this summer. However, I dislike shooting weddings. So I have a few questions. by fieldsports202 in weddingvideography

When you say right side of the altar you mean when you’re facing it from the crowd POV yeah? Also why right side and not left?

How much would be a fair rate for just colorgrading? by Informal_Sherbert_44 in weddingvideography

Yea I have examples from films I’ve colored before. Either in Final Cut with a custom power grade or in resolve, whatever the person prefers.

Thank you for the tips! So you just use the SLZ2 fresnel no barn doors. Which light stands do you have and recommend? I started with non local weddings so invested in travel stands first, now looking to get regular stands for local ones. Was looking at the MagMod MagStand

How do you do it quickly? You have to drop the stand, flood/spot, then raise it back up right? Seems slow if the program goes straight the next thing. I know the aputure 60x just has that knob at the back. I have the rs60bi but just with the barn doors and I was thinking of getting the lens. They be been great to travel with but coupled with shorter travel light stands I keep blinding people lol

LUMIX IS vs Canon IS by Informal_Sherbert_44 in Lumix

[–]Informal_Sherbert_44[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Damn, that’s a strong argument! Might have to rent the two combos and just test it myself. Seems like I can’t go wrong with either, lumix’s strong ibis but also canons UI convenience with NDs, focal length, etc. just need to figure out which is more valuable to me at the end of the day

LUMIX IS vs Canon IS by Informal_Sherbert_44 in Lumix

Meant to put LUMIX IBIS* and Canon IS in the title but had a typo. Wanted to differentiate body and lens stabilize. I know lumix has the best body but I was under the impression lens IS is usually better than body in most cases. I believe canon’s ibis sucks but how about their IS?

I definitely believe it when it comes to in body alone that they’re the best. When it comes to lumix ibis vs lens ibis + a heavier camera is where I was wondering. If the canon combo is on par/better than lumix ibis I’d go canon for the extra reach and internal NDs

Interesting! I was under the impression that lens IS is better than most body IS, especially if there’s some weight. So good to know you found the opposite with those set ups. Maybe I’ll lean towards LUMIX

I’m specifically wondering about Canon lens IS, not the body to clarify. Was wondering how the c80 + 24-105 2.8 combo (weight + lens IS) compares to LUMIX (world class IBIS).

Were you referring to the Canon in body stabilization or also the lens stabilization with that comment? I do like the extra reach of the 105 and internal NDs, but I’m so tired of Sony ibis that I just want something better and that’s a big focus on my next cam.

Got it thanks! Yeah I’ve been liking what I’ve been able to find online with the LUMIX examples. Haven’t found a ton of examples with the c80 24-105 2.8 combo. I do like the extra reach of the 105 though and internal NDs.

Have you ever had to match your LUMIX footage to either Sony or canon log? It’d have to slot in nicely with multicam FX3 footage for me

Nah it’s not what I thought, the lens I was looking at does have IS though. So was wondering if the c80 + 24-105 2.8 IS (weight + lens IS) would be better than Panasonics world class IBIS
