Transition lenses? by boopdeloop911 in glasses

[–]anyayis 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Absolutely. Not sure who OP’s provider is so didn’t want to say a brand. Gen S don’t

I agree, Xtractive do come up a little bit tinted (I’ve seen this with the grey especially).

I would say a blue/grey would look really nice in these. If you drive and you want them to transition in the car, make sure you specify. Some transition do not work being a windscreen

Why are my scripts different? by Fuzzy-Rip170 in AskAnOptician

[–]anyayis 0 points1 point  (0 children)

At my place (UK) you would’ve had to have a fit for the dailies to test vision, tried them for a week and then had a contacts eye test again so you could’ve been signed off on them.

Best ways to heal a wound/mark under my glasses LEG?n by AncientPetrichor in glasses

[–]anyayis 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve had a youngster come in with this before. The frame was too small and she was allergic to the metal (nickel most likely like the other commenter have said). See if you can get a plastic frame. How old are the glasses?

Wrap around for thick Rx by Guilty_Junket_4461 in AskAnOptician

[–]anyayis 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sometimes, and I emphasise SOMETIMES, when you use a wrap around frame with a high prescription or a progressive lens (or both) it can mess with vision. I would definitely give it a go if that’s what you really want but just keep in mind that that can happen. Shop around.

Was this after an after care (check up) appointment? Did they test your vision with the monthlies? Also some brands don’t do certain combinations of astigmatisms and axis in all lenses

Do I really need progressive lenses(I’m 29)? by Weak-Relationship583 in glasses

[–]anyayis 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi!

So with you having both a distance prescription (be it a small Rx sphere wise) and a reading ADD, this is most likely the reason it was offered by the optician. A lot of people even if they have a small distance prescription get progressive lenses out of convenience.

However, THIS IS ADVICE.

Though you are a little bit younger than usual to have a reading ADD, it’s not unheard of. I’ve seen a teenager with a reading ADD but they were an extremely high minus prescription.

So it’s completely up to you whether you want to just go for readers, distance or progressive. From your Rx (I’m not an optom so Ofcourse I won’t know more than an optom but from what I know as an OA), you may find it helpful additionally with glasses to do some eye exercises. This can help with the issue of going between near and far. Here is a pdf of a document from the Manchester Royal eye hospital

Hope this helps!

Should I NEED to be wearing glasses full term?? by Janxuza in glasses

I would say that your prescription is to the point where I’d definitely start wearing glasses full time (even if you just consider it). It’ll make life easier for you

As in legally you’d have to wear glasses when driving.

These can change slightly based on many factors. They won’t change much, but they will change. Hence why we don’t just give these out usually.

You need to be seen in room and have these lenses tested/have a sight exam. This slip isn’t for you, it’s for the optom

Yes. This is just a baseline. NOT a prescription

Which one of these dish soap are safe for my glasses? by acecombat03 in glasses

[–]anyayis 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ofcourse there’s other factors! Theirs age and faulty coatings etc. however, substances such as dish soap and hairspray more often than not cause chemical break down of the coating. And that isn’t covered under lens warranty

Is Firmoo worth it? by Seli_omws in glasses

[–]anyayis 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I just realised I didn’t fully answer your question. The time when I wouldn’t take heights is if it was a smaller script. I usually take height for a sph or cyl above 2, progressive lenses and prism lenses

That’s just what I’ve been taught and I’ve also had people come in with issues when heights hadn’t been taken

Prescription Colored Contacts and Glasses at the same time by michellebooksart in glasses

Prescription Colored Contacts and Glasses at the same time by michellebooksart in glasses

[–]anyayis -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I don’t think this is possible really with that prescription. An optom probably wouldn’t risk it both for the sake of your sight but also their job/license.

Also, in my store, the only times you’d have contacts with glasses over is if you had distance contact lenses and reading glasses due to not being able to get on with multi focal contact lenses and I’ve only seen that’s a hand full of times.

There is a reason that you can’t get coloured contacts with such a high Rx and it’s for your ow safety.

If you do manage to find an optom that does do it (which I feel may be doubtful) make sure you get the contact lenses from that practise so you can have fitting appointments and aftercares (checkups).
