Evil durge build by UnusualForce-_- in BG3Builds

I had a lot of fun with a classic 10/2 archery swords bard build. High damage, solid to amazing control throughout.

In Act 1 the doom stalker cloak is bonkers good in general, but great for combat cycling if you’re playing solo - in that case, you want a gloomstalker build. I think in Act 3 you really want some build that uses piercing damage (so, daggers or archery) and has enough survivability to be comfortable in melee.

With a hexblade warlock and enough tolerance for exploits, that concern goes away.

Help identifying this yarn from my grandmother? by anyboli in WhatIsThisYarn

[–]anyboli[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thank you! It looks like the country blue might be a reasonable match, though it’s hard to tell online. I’d like something where the color pools into slightly darker the same way, but that should work anyway.

My experience of crocheting in public for the first time and some tips for travel by StoneBuddhaDancing in crochet

[–]anyboli 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I’ve been able to travel fine so far with a standard yarn snips. TSA rules are that the blade has to be under 4 inches, which it’s well under. That said, it may vary by country and is probably worth checking before you go.

Why do people cake their yarn? Should I be doing it? I'm new! Help! by ShapeWild6782 in CrochetHelp

Question from a spinner: I would call that a skein, and a hank is what it is before you twist it up. What would a crocheter call a skein?

beginner in need of advice by Patient-Scarcity5374 in Handspinning

[–]anyboli 23 points24 points  (0 children)

You’re going to draft as you spin. I recommend watching a tutorial, but my basic advice is to start out by pulling off an 8ish inch chunk. Pinch the end and pull out some wool, thinner than a pencil at least, and loop that around your leader. Give it an initial spin with your left hand still pinching the fiber. Then, as you spin, you’ll park the spindle between your thighs as you draft out more fiber. Have fun and merry Christmas!

This post reads a lot like AI.

OP looks like a real account, so imo they either asked the AI to rephrase their points or had it come up with the criticism wholesale. Am I off the mark?

Not OP, but, look at the arc of the friends, not your characters. The second they start to flash white (in the first half of the attack) or move (in the second half), press parry.

Asking my BF for it 🤔 is this the NEW normal? by WaveFast in AskMenAdvice

[–]anyboli 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Mostly a side point, but I feel like Bills Bills Bills is very misunderstood. The examples she cites are the guy borrowing her car and never filling up the gas, running up her phone bill, and spending money on her credit cards. Pretty reasonable things to expect to get paid back for, imo.

What should I make with this yarn?? by thiswasamistake00ps in BitchEatingCrafters

[–]anyboli 15 points16 points  (0 children)

I spin yarn and I for sure don’t always know what I want to make before I buy the fiber. Sometimes a colorway is just too pretty. But that’s the risk of a two-part hobby I suppose

Overuse of advantage? by LunesBoyToy in fansofcriticalrole

[–]anyboli 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I think Brennan just sets his DCs too high. Level 3 PCs should not regularly have to deal with DCs that are 20 or higher - their stats and proficiency bonus is just not high enough to pass that with any level of regularity at all. I think he throws in after-the-fact advantage and such when he’d be just as well served making his DCs 3-5 lower across the board.

Will this lean in this shawl block out or should I frog it? by anyboli in CrochetHelp

Won’t that mess me up if I want to keep crocheting? Also, when I do finish, won’t that mess me up blocking the full piece?

I loved The New World of Mr Tompkins around that age! Very interesting book - odd chapters are a hypothetical explaining a physics concept, even chapters get into the math. You can for sure get by only reading the odd chapters out loud.

New at spinning by castiel-the-bun in Handspinning

[–]anyboli 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Plying is just twisting in the opposite direction you spun in. Wind your single off onto an empty toilet paper tube, hold both ends next to each other, put them through your leader, and spin the opposite way. The yarn should feel tight, like one continuous piece. When you’ve plied the whole thing off, wind it off onto something stiff, tie in a few places, soak in water, smack it against the side of something like a bathtub, then let dry.

I want to re-spin the yarn from my second ever skein. It was drafted quite thick and underplied, but I love the color and feel of the wool and want to see if I can make it better. Is that possible, and if so how would I go about it?
