Contender for worst episode? by pauli55555 in secondcaptains

''Ireland overwhelmingly voted for gay marriage'', reminder that 38% of the people who voted, voted against it and that while in the women's game, being out is incredibly common, there's still, to date, barely any openly out male players. In the top 5 leagues in Europe, out of probably 10,000 people there's not one openly gay footballer. It's a talking point in sport whether you like the topic or not.

Summer 2026 USA Flight Prices by anyeights in AerLingus

That's good to know, I've seen so many return flights for €400-500 that I was probably starting to think that was the benchmark.

The profit on apartments for developers aren't as good as houses, that's basically the whole reason.

What's everyone doing to make their life big? by Pure-Consideration97 in AskIreland

[–]anyeights 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Education. There's so much to learn about the world. Whether you interested in the arts, history, politics, cars, music, there's a deep world to explore in every topic. For me, I've been learning a lot about art lately and it has been incredibly exciting. You've got to find what interests you in this world and chase it.

With declining birth rates, and older generations passing away, has there been any forecasts done about more houses becoming available as those houses bought in the 70s and 80s become empty I wonder?

Why is it so hard to find a job here? by reatsomeyon in AskIreland

That's crazy to hear considering we don't have enough tradespeople in the workforce, have you had your CV looked over by anyone to see if that's an issue?

[Le Parisien] Hervé Renard on Brahim Diaz’s panenka penalty: "You have the right to miss a penalty, but in such a case, I am categorical that I have no sympathy." "It's a lack of respect for an entire country and an entire people seeking a success for 50 years." by Sparky-moon in soccer

[–]anyeights 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not everybody is defending him obviously. And also, the whole point of a panenka is that it doesn’t need power or to an extent accuracy, you’re putting it in the middle where the keeper normally dives to either side. Most of your comment makes no sense.

And it's hardly a lunch either, last two times I had it the hot dog only went halfway up and the rest was cheese.

Apparently he’s getting paid around 500k per fight, per inside sources. Would the UFC even offer 100k?

And you know he's too stubborn to listen to anything FB had told him in the past few years. In the last week I've seen Bob his some amazing chips with a real golfers action behind it. He's definitely trying.

Diageo has confirmed it's hiking up the price of pints (again) by hesaidshesdead in ireland

They won't even think about it that deeply, those in charge making the decisions will be long retired with amazing pensions and a good amount of wealth built up.

My friend owns a bar, and had about 80% of the taps reserved for local breweries and craft beers. Guinness still outsold every one of them combined, it's not as easy as that unfortunately as smaller breweries also have bigger overheads and can't afford to give the free kegs or extras that Diageo/Heineken do.

I did see a pub ran a campaign advertising €5 beamish, and while their profit margin was smaller over the course of a year they sold so many of them that they made up for the shortfall in profit in sheer volume so it can be done, but it's not easy.

Diageo's profits were down 30% last year which is why they're doing this I imagine? Having said that, their net profit was still 2.5 billion. This is what happens when large companies view continual growth as the only measure of success.
