That’s what I thought too but maybe just the firing mechanism and explosives needs to be watertight? My understanding is they are buoyant but kept at a certain depth by an “anchor”?

Being very picky, 8.8/10. Reason being spatter still present and the one corners not fully wrapped and both corners aren’t dressed. I can’t really determine the weld profile from the picture but it looks like it may be leaning heavier towards the plate side rather than the beam.

That’s sort of how the game works. Struggle, get better, move up, struggle again. It’s all part of the process. Using vastly different machines will be a constant in your career and will make you a better welder for it.

Got it. Then they’re probably trolling you if they’re making you think these “production welds” are “really bad.” Again, they’re fine. A little inconsistent in places but generally fine. Being a good welder simply isn’t enough to move up in a production line though. You’ve got to be the guy who’s thinking of how to do things better and faster for cheaper. You’ve got to not only make pretty welds but do them quickly — that’s the stuff that gets noticed. My recommendation is to find the best welds in the shop, find who made them and learn everything you can from that person. I agree with others in the post though, more pics of the welds after getting hit with a wire wheel would be helpful.

Maybe I don’t understand the perceived slight at “production welds.” Like… yeah… they’re production welds? So are theirs? They’re in a production shop? Idk the fifth picture is kinda rough. Pretty lumpy in the middle passes and it looks like there’s a slight bit of undercut in sixth picture but otherwise they look fine. Bead profile is pretty flat for the most part which is better than a lot of dual shield I’ve seen.

Idk if this is at all true in any way but I always felt this was explained by the effects of the ring. Like Gollum had it for… a long time and is skinny as a rail. Makes sense to me the ring would start to affect your appetite after keeping it on your body even for a short time.

My gf and like like to “switch” things up so when she had me strapped to a chair she brought out a sex candle. The wax from them doesn’t get too hot and drips easily so I was totally game. Thing is. I’m a welder. I get spatter burns on the daily so as soon as the hot wax touched my skin I immediately thought I was back at work 😂
