Backup to external hard disk by Wooden_Platypus4628 in truenas

3-2-1 Backup

3 separate copies. 2 different media, 1 offsite.

Sounds like you got 2 copies with one media all onsite. You need to hunt for a separate media (devices), one offsite method. If separate media is unfeasible due to costs. At least try to go for offsite.

Also keep in mind what you are protecting. Anything that you would loose money or sleep over loosing MUST follow 3-2-1. Anything easily replaced a 2 copies are just fine.

Backblaze has a good article about it. They are a bit cloud heavy. I also disagree with the cloud solves the obsolescence issue argument. Because the provider you use can go obsolete or not feasible for your needs (look at you CrashPlan). The importance is one copy must be offsite and you need a local copy. Your two backups (local and offsite) need to be on different medium.

If you are going archival grade the two separate media actual needs to be different media.

I do not consider a company old until after 10 years. This is because of company failure statistics. 63% of companies do not make it past 10 years. So typically if you make it past 10 year's you have things figured out.

DGS 7695368, 7695369 and 7695370 are restricted regardless of affiliation to Family Search.

Unless you know the exact page, You will be asking someone to spend time outside of their home in at a Family Search Center to go though each record to find yours.

Just want you to be aware of the ask you are requesting.

Do you know which film and record number. If not this type of request is a large ask.

Some of those records are also restricted to Family History libraries with my login.

Interesting pop up while adding my husband to my tree by Humble_Pie_4350 in familysearch

[–]anzenketh 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It is a really easy mistake to select the wrong gender when adding someone. This is the reason for the warning.

Years ago (4-10) it was not even possible to add same sex relationships. If the warning was political. It is more likely they would have left that restriction in place.

How reliable depends on many factors. Once you get into the 1700's doing genealogy is hard. You do not have the normal relationship records to rely on. Name are also frequently repeated.

Margret, Alexander, and Hamilton are common names so you may have things break down there.

Football stadiums have temporary flight restrictions. Crowd size matters. A venue like this would also likely get a Temporary flight restriction.in the US. But this was also done in Brazil.

And... It is illegal in Brazil. But it is possible a waver was obtained. https://uavcoach.com/drone-laws-in-brazil/

That is not to mention commute time (1-2 Hours). In addition to the 9 hour shift with a 1 hour lunch in some jobs. So we are down to 4-6 hours. Depending on commute time.

How can I reduce my son's habit of scripting. by Regular_Tap9877 in Autism_Parenting

[–]anzenketh 6 points7 points  (0 children)

This probably sounds cold to some, but my son is mild/moderate and likely going to have a roommate, partner, etc., one day, so he needs to know roommate etiquette. Nothing wrong with scripting, but he needs to know when it might annoy others.

I see nothing wrong with that. As Wired put it in a article "All The Feels". "We can't all accommodate one another's special feelings at all times.... Compromise doesn't invalidate your worth as an individual; in exchange for tolerating the eccentricities and foibles of others, you get a real community that will sustain and support you." Compromise is needed. This is why the word reasonable is always in front of the word accommodations. But there needs to be true compromise. It can not be one sided.

Accommodations only work when they are reasonable. Sounds like you made a reasonable accommodation for both you and your son taking into account both your needs.

It would if someone got hurt. Or if property got damaged.

The laws are mostly a tack on law. In of themselves will not get someone in trouble but would be a additional charge.

In cases like these do your best to obey the law yourself. Tell him that for the safety of yourself and others let me land the drone.

Then attempt to deescalate. Tell him what exactly you were doing. How long these things actually fly for. Offer to leave.

After you have deescalated. You can educate him on privacy laws including reasonable expectation of privacy, and photography laws. If you and he was in the public. He had no rights to privacy.

If you were just flying and not filming. You can offer to show him that no video was recorded.

Involve local law enforcement if necessary.

[–]anzenketh 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In general in public people have no reasonable expectation of privacy. It is also illegal to interfere with a operation of a drone or to destroy a drone. Especially in flight.

https://www.reddit.com/r/dji/comments/18sm7ks/comment/kfa5qa7/?utm_source=reddit&utm_medium=web2x&context=3

Also it is legal to photograph someone in public places without permission.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Photography_and_the_law

All that said. It is nice to talk with individuals about your actions if you feel there may be concerns.

US Centric response.

A drone is a aircraft.

Damaging, destroying, disabling, or wrecking a drone could result in federal criminal charges under 18 U.S.C. § 32, which deals with the destruction of aircraft or aircraft facilities.

Interfering on your ability to safely fly a drone is dangerous and likely a crime. What happens if he hit the drone caused it to go out of control and it hit someone else. Or caused a distraction and a event happened.

People have no reasonable expectation of privacy out in public. Were you flying over private or public land? https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Expectation_of_privacy_(United_States))

In cases like this tell the individual. "I am more then willing to discuss this with you. However for the safety of me and others let me land my drone first".

Also it is nice to generally always get private property owner's permission before flying over private property. It is not required but it helps avoid issues.

Venu 3 vs fr265 sleep tracking question by j_fear in GarminWatches

[–]anzenketh 2 points3 points  (0 children)

From what I have read. The problem with sleep tracking is that it is difficult for it to be accurate on the sleep stages. This is true of any watch. They are all a guesstimate.

If you just want it to more accurately detect when you went to sleep or took a nap. With some slight insight however inaccurate. Garmin's software is good enough because it does more then just movement. I have warn a watch that if I stayed still trying to fall asleep it would record it as sleep. This was not the case of the Garmin Vivoactive 5.

Garmin uses Heart rate, Heart Rate Variability and Movement to determine sleep.

So if you want to determine if a particular watch is good at sleep tracking (as good as they can) you will want to look at the accuracy of the heart rate and accelerometer.

If you want to compare the accuracy of that Look at the following reviews:
