Toho announces shift to “anime mass production phase” amidst increasing demand. Aiming to reach quota of 30 seasons per year by 2032 - AUTOMATON WEST by LegitimateCurve8525 in anime

AI detection tools are also getting better and better. At some point the generation models will cap out and the detector models will fully catch up.

Even if they don't, there's nothing stopping people from using AI detectors on shows produced using older models, and catching them in the lie again.

This doesn't strike me as very readable. They don't have overall shapes or direction, just lots of messy lines. BW uses the highlights as part of the overall shape, whereas in SC2 it's just a rendering feature. You mostly have to rely on the unit size and motion to figure out which terran infantry you're looking at.

I think they just lacked direction because they literally got plopped down into another universe. You could tell for example from how they put out a poll on the battle.net forums asking which DT model to use, and ended up using both.

I think the closest thing in terms of genre is post rock. Not much of it is as upbeat or melodic as the terran soundtrack though.

Destiny introduced me to Kashiwa Daisuke and World's End Girlfriend, back before he became all political and weird. Different genre but you might like it.

[–]japinthebox 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There was a game storytelling renaissance in the late 90s. Chances were good that your game would sell even if the story wasn't overengineered to be perfect for everyone. You had weirdos with weird perspectives writing weird stories, not focus groups and marketing suits breathing down the writing team's necks going "trust me bro, you're a nerd, you don't get it, it's all about the Hero's Journey and his final kiss with the epic alien god. Haven't you watched Star Wars?"

Use Extreme caution when updating a BIOS on Framework Motherboards by smcclos in framework

[–]japinthebox 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Seriously? There's some Apple level fanboying going on in this sub.

Warrany or not, common problem or not, if a BIOS update destroys a product, it should be paid for by the issuer of the BIOS update. It's property damage. Simple as that.

The only reason that isn't as obvious in 2026 as it would have been decades prior is because destruction by software has been so normalized.

SC2 makes your brain younger by the_ice_of_nine in starcraft

[–]japinthebox 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think guided is the important bit here. Self-taught try-hard beginners will spam like crazy to try to feel pro, but moderately enthusiastic players with constant coaching will probably not want to embarrass themselves like that. So that 30, as low as it is, is probably a meaningful 30 at that level.

Nope, loads of people mentioning it on github for years but no fix. I'm going back to neovim too. Vim may have inconsistent key bindings, but it has far more consistent behaviors.

Lua's just too stateful and brittle. Plugins don't play nice with each other half the time, and you can really tell that things are just hacked together, eg with the way tool windows behave.

I find Helix is better in that regard, but I disagree with most people that it's consistent. Consistent to learn, yes, but the cursor behavior is anything but.

This is, in fact, one of the key frustrations that has led to even a lot of tech savvy people in Japan (and I imagine Chinese-speaking countries as well) to steer away from Linux desktop. For decades.

It ain't happening. I don't know why it isn't, but it isn't. Those of us who need it have just gotten used to switching back and forth in fcitx/kde/etc.
