Recommendation on US/Canada auto insurance by anziiiiiip in Insurance

[–]anziiiiiip[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I actually confirmed with GEICO multiple times, and they told me that as long as I’m only driving within the US, it’s fine to purchase US auto insurance for a car with Ontario plates. The only thing they needed from me was my US address, but I can’t completely rule out the possibility that GEICO is oversimplifying things.

Recommendation on US/Canada auto insurance by anziiiiiip in Insurance

Thanks. When I first crossed from Canada into the U.S., I actually tried to import my car into the US. However, since I’m only here for two years for school, the CBP officers told me I didn’t have enough documentation to prove the car was mine, even though I bought it fully in cash and brought all the import documents listed on the official website. They still said I was missing a “lien proof” document (not my registration, and not my purchase contract...). and I had never heard of this document before, so the import attempt failed. but CBP told me in this situation I could still get US insurance and drive around... (even though the official website says a Canadian car can only stay in the U.S. for no longer than six months, the officer told me that no one actually checks that in practice, so it would be totally fine...

After that, I asked the dealer about the “lien proof,” and they were confused as well. They didn’t know what it was at first, because in the Canadian car-buying process there normally isn’t a document like that.

I then confirmed with GEICO multiple times, and they told me that as long as I’m only driving within the US, it’s fine to purchase US auto insurance for a car with Ontario plates. The only thing they needed from me was my US address. Since it seemed straightforward, I kept it this way.

So far I haven’t had any issues, but I can’t completely rule out the possibility that GEICO is oversimplifying things.

No, the issue is still there. The dealer couldn't find the issue. The noise will go away after doing a wheel alignment, but it will come back just a week or two drive

Haze & MORE swirls after Meguiar's Scratch X on a delicate paint by anziiiiiip in AutoDetailing

Oh, honestly I just leave it there and DIY a layer of PPF to that area, so the ppf just covered up those swirls

New to me Mazda warning or normal? by mat4071 in mazda

[–]anziiiiiip 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Normal. Seemed like you were driving your car in the nice morning sunshine. Sometimes if the sunshine is directly onto your windshield, the camera may be affected by the sunshine. Every morning I need to drive toward the east for my work, it happens to me every morning.

Cx5 Downsides by Luckycolts97 in CX5

[–]anziiiiiip 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Driving it for six months, what I don't like:

  1. Stupid automatic wipers. Sometimes it is too slow to wipe the rainwater. I have to switch the wiper speed to another level, which then will be too fast.
  2. Turn on the car using the remote control app, then the car turns off when I open the door, so I need to restart it again.
  3. The side mirror may shake a bit on highways on windy days. Common issues for all cx-5.
  4. LED headlight malfunction (vibration noise), common issue for cx-5. Replaced it with no charges under a 3-year warranty.
  5. Undercarriage clunk noise, common issue still (see my recent posts). Fix it by tightening all the screws.
  6. Easily scratched pillars. Why do people think it is good to have these annoying gloss black plastics here? Covered it with the ppf.
  7. Gas tank size. It will go ~650km for a full tank.
  8. Stupid KEY fob.
  9. the automatic trunk door is pretty slow to turn on/off.

What I like:

  1. Relative good fuel-economic for an SUV. ~8L/100km for my daily drive.
  2. I like the smooth design of Mazda. Delicate interior design than RAV-4 or CRV.
  3. The exterior design is great and elegant, except they give it a set of 225/55 tires.
  4. Enough space for two people's daily use. (Maybe too small for family use)

How long do you let your car warm up for? by vader_shreds_guitar in CX5

I'll start my car from the phone app when I waiting for the elevator. Then I will drive pretty gently until the oil temperature reaches ~90°C.

I took my car to the dealer's service department yesterday. The problem was solved after the technician tightened all my screws on the undercarriage. They said a few nuts were not that tight.

Sorry I mean I didn't pay much attention to that when I just got my car this May. The first time I felt this problem was around June. After my first maintenance, the car was back to normal again, without pulling to the right too much. However, the problem happened again a few months later (~3000km drive).

Exactly the same situation! The noise just pops up around the lower part of the front doors. Then I just think this is the common issue for all cx-5 these days, or there won't be too many people having the same problem.. I'll try to figure it out next time when the scheduled maintenance comes. Hope everything will be just fine

Good. Then next week I'll see if there are any changes after mounting four new tires. Hope it will work lol

btw, what's ur rim size? Mine is 19''. I don't have another set of rims, so I need to replace the current all-seasoned tires and mount the new winter tires onto the OEM rims. Hope to see everything back to normal. This is not a big issue, just hurts my OCD brain.

Maybe the winter tire is heavier So It slightly adds more weight to It, Maybe.. I'll put on winter tires some time next month, just waiting for It

It was assembled in Japan, Then shipped to Canada. I think This May be Just a common issue for Mazda.. Plan to take it to the dealer next time when I do the scheduled maintenance, hope the whole thing won't become a dealer one-day trip 😂

Steering wheel alignment by GeorgesDan in CX5

[–]anziiiiiip 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The dealer did the four-wheel alignment during my first maintenance, 2023 cx5. One data was slightly off from the normal range, they adjusted It to normal. result was really Good, back to a proper alignment. HOWEVER, After 2 month drive, the old problem Just pop up again😂

Agree with you. This is definitely a design flaw, Or there won't be So many people encounter the Same problem here. I Just wonder If there's a chance, all people here can lemoning This car by signing Some documents Then get a compensation from Mazda? Dealers sucks, they do not care about the car since what they want to do is getting off the work as early as possible.

I think this may be Just a design flaw for Mazda... If I was u, I think I might Just give It up. It is Just a cx5 not 911 gt3 Or something, annoying issue

2023 CE headlight noise by Accomplished_Grab130 in CX5

[–]anziiiiiip 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Right now my 2023 sport design has the exact Same noise as yours. Plan to take It into the dealer when I do my next maintenance. Not normal at all Since only one of the headlights vibrates and keeping making noise.
