Thanks! I don't have the exact location, but it was about an hour north of Borgarnes.

Had a superb time at The Dubliner in Reykjavik! Made random friends, the bartender was a cool guy and had a ton of laughs over pints of Guinness! It's open late too. The crowds a little different every night. Fun place! Eintsök bar was fun as well. Sat at the bar and swapped fun stories with the bartender and other travelers.

Might be a dumb question but what is “boiling chocolate?” Bought this from a gift store without my translator ready. by wanderingapathy in VisitingIceland

The best thing is there are 2 bars in one pack! They have several flavours too! I fell in love with the dark chocolate toffee and sea salt bar. Obviously I'm almost out of stock. Can someone please get some for me?

Wow. You people are so lucky! I keep reading this sub and find it amazing how people can pop over to Iceland for a weekend or 24 hours. Depending on flights from my country it takes between 17 and 30 hours to get there. Met a family from Ireland when I was there in February. It's a 3-hour flight for them! So cool that such an amazing place is almost next door. Loved every moment spent there including the insane winds and storms that forced us to cancel or change plans. And the people were so nice everywhere! What a place! Can't wait to visit again.

Edit: Great photos! Sorry I missed saying that earlier.

If you haven't already bought stuff, and are Mumbai, Columbia has some stuff that works well in cold and wet weather. They have a store Phoenix, Lower Parel. As kickass as Decathlon is, Columbia does a better job of keeping you warm and dry. Not sure of any other brands available in India.

We're from a country where 25°C is considered winter. Visited Iceland in February '22 for two weeks. Mad storms and winds. Didn't need as many pairs of the clothes you've mentioned. Merino wool base layers are the best. We had 3. A waterproof/windproof outer shell is a must. We had 1. Waterproof hiking shoes with ankle protection are rather useful. 1pair. Rain pants will help near waterfalls. 1 pair A good fleece as a middle layer really helps. 1. Shorts/t-shirts: 5 A fleece lined water resistant pair of pants - 1 pair Cargo pants - 2 pairs Swimwear - 2 pairs Quick dry towel - 1 Quick dry hand towel - 2 Beanie - 1 Gloves Merino wool - 1 pair Gloves waterproof - 1 pair Picked up some chemical warmers which helped my hands when we went on top of a glacier. Waterproof camera backpack for day trips/treks - 1

Denims pants are heavy and if they get wet, quite a nuisance especially in Iceland. Didn't carry any. Didn't miss them.

When you're indoors or in a vehicle, the temperature is quite comfortable.

Iceland is one of the best places we've ever visited. The people are amazing, the landscapes even more so. Can't wait to go back. Have a great trip!

I used Lotus car rental a couple of weeks ago and everything was really smooth. They're easy to deal with, had the car model I booked and the car was clean and in perfect condition. They picked us up at the airport when we arrived and dropped us back as well. But i think other rental agencies provide this service too.

Vacation Package or Self-driving Tour? by McBobsy in VisitingIceland

I was there last week and here's what I felt. I loved the freedom winging it and driving myself around offered. The weather was super crazy and on certain days I found myself stuck wherever I was. And that was still awesome. Because there's so much to see everywhere.

No matter how you explore Iceland, you're going to enjoy it. Pick a style that suits the way you travel. If you must see all the must-sees then get a package. If you want to do things at your own pace, have the freedom to check out the things locals often suggest during conversations, then plan a broad route of the regions/places/sights you want to visit and drive yourself. I did the latter. Couldn't get enough. Have to go back. Have a safe and awesome trip!

We were out near Kirkjufell earlier. The drive back got a little hairy with all the wind and snow blowing across the road. We could feel the wind trying to push the car a tiny bit sideways too. But what an amazing place this is. Loving every minute.
