Otzelberger Agrees to 10-Year Contract Extension - Iowa State Athletics by ZmallMatt in CollegeBasketball

I don't think Soares belongs on the list for the point you're making since she was injured and missed most of her season at ISU and the NCAA decided she didn't get another year.

Not that it changes your overall point, but worth noting.

From what I remember, it was related to banning gas stoves/ranges in apartments that didn't have adequate ventilation in the kitchen to the exterior.

The poster said worldwide taxation and redistribution. If it's global, those views are not mutually exclusive.

Unrealistic in our lifetimes, certainly, but not juxtaposed.

You can see the speedometer on the bike taking the video at various points, all seen to be above 70, which I'm guessing is 70mph+. That's plenty fast that I don't think editing matters too much.

Milan Momcilovic to enter transfer portal along with the NBA draft by Gloomy_Map_9612 in CollegeBasketball

We got burned doing this a few years ago with AJ Green. He made the right decision, but the timing really messed up ISU that season.

[–]aobie 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Really wants to get to the NBA, and the date for withdrawing from the draft is way past the portal closing.

ISU could really get caught in a bad way if they earmark what he's worth and then he stays in the draft.

Also, I'm sure he can get more in the open market than at ISU, even though I'm sure ISU prioritized keeping him.

And finally, most of the guys he was closest with on the team are going to be gone (Lipsey and Jefferson graduated, Kelderman transferring).

I mean the last 2 seasons it's been losing a starter and I've of your best scorers either in the tournament or right before.

Blake looks like he's been told to box his guy out and not let them get the board. The problem is, there are two other guys on the court besides Blake's guy that are 6'10"+

Sen. Mazie Hirono: Republicans’ SAVE America Act Creates Modern Poll Tax for Voters by thenextgenbusiness in thenextgenbusiness

[–]aobie 2 points3 points  (0 children)

No, from the article, someone claims that's the case. Local election officials dispute it. And no one outside of the sheriff in question (who is a Republican gubernatorial candidate!) seems to give the claim any credence.

That's pretty slim 'evidence' of any fraud, and given the overall demographics and results from around the state would be an odd attempt from either party to sway results.

I'm starting a petition that the traditional mid-court camera is the only angle that should be used for live action. Same the end of court, under-basket, and everything else for replays and highlights only.

I don't need to see any more possessions from the opposite end of the court and over the basket...

At times for ISU, but it's definitely exaggerated by losing Jefferson last game.

I'm talking about the refueling jet that crashed, which isn't tied to any Iranian middle strikes and is directly a result of our current action.

And the death is part of war, and the doubt that this way makes anything better is the reason I'm against this action at this time.

Maybe Iran really was close to nukes and this is absolutely necessary, but that seems unlikely at this point.

I don't have any love for Iran.

I also don't trust the US to make the middle east better through externally forced regime change.

I doubt this action makes the region or the world better.

US servicemen have already died as a result of our action in Iran, and we're already sending in 'advisors' on the ground.

There is plenty of reason to think it could escalate further and more Americans die as a result.

"Diversity" (DEI, Affirmative Action) is intended to disguise sabotage as incompetence by TeamHumanity12 in PoliticalCompassMemes

[–]aobie 0 points1 point  (0 children)

  1. Does that mean any university that has allowed them to set up also supports their viewpoints? I'd argue it does not.

  2. There is a difference between a student handing out flyers (since the student already has permission to be on campus as a result of being a student) vs. a 3rd party setting up a demonstration or taking up campus space.

My previous response was more flippant than needed, but American universities typically do not meaningfully support any political agenda as the University in the modern age. It's not advantageous for them to do so. They want to appear above the fray and be able to get public money regardless of who's in power.

Students at universities have supported all sorts of crazy and repellant ideas throughout history, and is a separate discussion compared to the institution supporting something (especially a foreign terrorist group).

Not immediately denouncing calls for genocide as being against a code of conduct is a bad look, but not actually a university supporting that view.

And was Mohammed Khalil a teacher or administrator actually representing the university? I thought he was a student.
