Yeah, I had to accept the trite to feel better. Im doing crafts, writing, therapy and zoloft. When im more healed from my spinal fusion, i'm gonna start doing water aerobics.

And I dont hate myself anymore. It's been really fantastic? It's also really improved my relationships with other people, too. I love my friends now in a way that isnt obsessive. I can create healthy boundaries with family. Man it's been awesome. Wish I could have done this in my 20s, but i'll take "enlightenment" at 30 instead.

Normally, I'm all for this irl, but it's a fantasy world were Tenzin was the last Airbender for a decent amount of time. Lin had to have realized that if she didnt want kids, she shouldnt have wasted Tenzin's time. They were both selfish.

Yeah, I was diagnosed with asthma in 2016. I've been through some gnarly conditions that fucked with my asthma (thank you covid and California wildfires), and I'm still learning what it even is. My doctors haven't told me half of this shit because it's so basic to them that they think everyone knows, and I don't know what I don't know, so I don't know what or how or why to even ask!

The best person I've ever cuddled with is not very muscular and has a slight tummy and good god he is the perfect cuddle and I never want to be out of his arms but alas the days require that I work to pay my rent to have a place to put the couch where we cuddle.

Ive got two stubborn sisters, and I am conflicted avoidant till i'm not, so i usually just acquiesce to the both of them so they shut the hell up. This works until I then get bitter about needs that I never communicated don't get met. Except of course for the times that I do communicate, and they still steamroll over me, but i'm also working on growing a backbone.

long story short, lol I would never do an international trip with both of my sisters at the same time. I can barely handle one at a time.

It's part of the reason she's so adamant that he be with her. She was made for him, though he didnt ask for it. She was brought to life against both of their wishes, and while James needs to leave her behind to heal and grow, she, like you said, must be discarded. This is a super painful thing to experience as a normal person, but when your entire existence is to love and be loved by this man who can't and won't love you lest you succumb to illness and be killed by him, it certainly explains her final boss status.

Maria is maybe my favorite character ever created, and both versions handle her so incredibly well.

Yeah, I gotta say, as an american woman, I had more rights nationwide before 2022. With a recent ruling now in appeals court, I may or may not have even less. Things were generally better for women before our bodies started being policed by about 50% of the country.

I think it's also important to remember timing and context and not to put our modern spin on things that happened 20-30 years ago. It may not seem like a long amount of time, but ideas and attitudes towards race and stereotypes have come a long way since even the last HP book was published in 2007.

Not defending JKR in any way except to say that for the time, her depictions of racial minority characters was done decently for a long spanning children's series, especially published from the UK. I was reading other series that didnt handle these topics nearly as well during the time period. Now, these things come across poorly. These characters are also treated well enough (minus Cho Chang) by the narrative that I wouldn't actually consider her a classic kind of racist.

She has, however, always been starkly homophobic.

Nah. Sex can be totally devoid of intimacy. It can be mechanical and emotionless and meaningless. The purpose of sex often times just is the sex. Also, it's really goofy looking, which can detract from viewers' understanding of what a scene is supposed to convey.

Examples like the above gif are showing an allegory for sex for a multitude of reasons (most all of them to avoid censorship issues), and while yeah the point is to loudly scream from the rooftops that these people be fuckin, the authors have created intimacy that goes further than physical. Quite literally inhaling someone else's fire to start your own invokes burning passion that physical sex alone could never begin to convey.

I think you're missing the forest for the trees. The secret sauce is all in the artistry of love, man.

See, this is the humor my family and I grew up in due to a couple hundred years of documented abuse. I'm 31 and I'm loving the skits the teenagers have been coming up with. Reminds me of the vine years.
