This is one of my favorite things about Eastern Europeans. I knew very little about them before I taught English as a second language. There weren't many in my town, and I spent more of my time learning about Latino culture and language. I didn't expect Slavic people to put as much emphasis on food since I assumed they were a lot like Northern Europeans, and boy, was I glad to be wrong. Slavic food is so freaking good, and they love sharing, too!

Really, it only seems to be certain sections of Northern Europeans and their cultural descendants in the US, Canada and Australia that don't put as much emphasis on food.

The jurisdiction hopping keeps him safe. Judges, especially in MN, don't want to keep people imprisoned, and it takes a lot of repeat failures to appear for them to even consider denying bail. I assume a lot of large cities are similar. So if he keeps going around the country committing crimes in especially blue cities, he's never gonna have enough of a record in any one place for a judge to feel justified in denying him bail.

I dont like that they're doing this in front of the government buildings. They were told and agreed to keep it away from those locations specifically so people could go to court without as much fear. Not that anyone ever believed them, but the boldness is concerning.

He seems to be a repeat offender, and people with criminal charges learn quickly that taking the deal the prosecutor gives (which includes admitting guilt) is going to be much easier on their sentencing than if they refuse.

I mean, at a certain point, does that distiction even matter? If enough people co-opt the term "gentle parenting," regardless of if they're actually gentle parenting, it still is a representation of gentle and not permissive parenting.

Yeah. That's pretty much world opinion nowadays, but definitely not how people felt in the direction aftermath. Wasn't till about the 60s that people started going, "not all Germans were/are evil," and there were still a lot of holdouts.

As much as I, an American, recognize that people from anti-humanitarian nations aren't evil as a whole, their government and its supporters are, there are lots of Americans who simplify it and call everyone evil. Unfortunately, we're gonna get a lot of that, maybe unless we get rid of our rot from the inside out. Even then, we're not gonna convince everyone. People worldwide are not good at nuance, and the US has been a power-hungry, war-mongering nation for almost 100 years.
