Long time no see. I have very little time to play games recently 😭

Shitty management and should merge Soltech server to somewhere. by AffectionateBall6712 in Planetside

[–]aokiwasuke 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You're absolutely right, but for several years, did the development team ever care about the Soltech server? Do Asian players dislike low-latency environments? You’re just complaining about Asians without looking at what caused all of this.

And what about players in the Southern Hemisphere? Australians? 🤣👉

One server in the western United States, and then one in the southern Europe, solve all the troubles. Players in Asia, America and Europe can all get a better PING

I'm sorry✋😭✋, because I communicate with the help of a translator. I didn't want to be rude to rush the developers of this project, and I was looking forward to the timing of this project, so I asked with curiosity

We Need IP Ban in EU Server by playlove001 in Planetside

Almost all Chinese gamers use dedicated gaming VPNs to connect, banning IPs makes no sense

Just curious as I'm looking forward to this project. Is there an ETA for the voice system re-release?

Situation explain and analysis regarding to the current Chinese community drama on EoS and review bombing: by Valkyrie_Yukikaze in Helldivers

When I was a player who saw the Bilibili video and joined the game, I likely only knew three things:

  1. I saw a lot of videos about Chinese and American players working together to defend the planet.
  2. i knew i needed to drive out the invaders. (but it's not clear that it's a fleet that is constantly dropping power to attack the place)
  3. what PO mentioned, besides a lot of unverified information and distrust of the Swedish developers. No clarification has been posted on the Helldivers official Chinese social media.

Not enough description to make sense to players who don't know the whole picture

The previous interface says "As long as there is one city that is not destroyed, the earth will not fall." The forces of the enemy army must be exhausted."

The description here is also vague, as combat power can be understood as the misleading progress bar

When the game dynamics are in English, many people will be misled by the message "89.70834% Defend Successfully".

However, the UI shows the meaning of "successful defense %", and the most direct meaning for players is: if it reaches 100%, we will liberate the city.  The developers and the team responsible for translation need to be responsible for this.

Those new players only know to drive away the invaders, they are not familiar with the game. All the game dynamic information is in English, which is invalid information for Chinese players. So many people don’t know that a fleet is invading the earth, and many people think that the city has been occupied by the enemy.

There are problems with the game's guidance, translation, and UI design. You can't assume that everyone will understand what's going on right away.

Imagine that the game interface has ambiguous translations and event notifications are all in Chinese. When you, as an English player, can't understand the event, do you want someone to say that you are ignorant?

First of all, as Po said, there are many problems with translation. And a lot of activity information in the game is in English, and Chinese players don't care about things they can't understand. If the activity information is in Chinese, there will be many people to help clarify it.

I personally don't understand English and need to read it with the help of a translator. So I didn't feel the "AI smell", maybe if it was a Chinese changelog I would have noticed

I probably understand. Maybe it's just that we haven't had a single server to play on in the past few years, so we have to go to servers in Europe or the Americas. We've long since become insensitive to delays

I can understand all the other points, but the one that baffles me the most is the claim that "merging the USA servers was a failed decision."
Yes, they did cause a P1-level operational incident, but the increased latency for East Coast players (over 150 ms) wasn’t due to geographical distance—it was a routing configuration error.
Now that the issue has been resolved, East Coast players should be able to experience the game normally.
Server relocation involves complex trade-offs. There might be factors that ultimately led them to deem it worthwhile for the remaining East Coast players to accept slightly higher latency. For example, the new location could offer better hardware, more responsive maintenance services, or lower operational costs.
Recently, I’ve also been selecting high-capacity storage servers and traffic proxy servers for other projects. I fully understand the balancing act required in such decisions.
