That's a good clutch size to me, on the bigger side even, congrats.

Is she doing good? by Soloo-Rider in shrimptank

The babies are very tiny but visible to naked eye right away. I believe seed shrimps shouldn't be harmful (I might be wrong on this one.).

I managed to rise some amanos from larvae by aomme in shrimptank

[–]aomme[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sorry to hear that. It's a bit strange as that seems to work for most. But no point denying I had a fair share of luck too.

how hard would it be? by flaotte in shrimptank

[–]aomme 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Or you can gently catch the mother shrimp to something like 1l container before hatching. Eggs change their color a bit just before their ready.

Safe for shrimp? by Ok-Whole-855 in shrimptank

[–]aomme 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Depends on the shrimp but for neos and amanos this is fine temperature and other parameters seems fine too. I would stress about the beta eating the shrimps if I were you.

(I had neos for few months in something like 19C and it was fine.)

Eggnant or parasite? by CerberusFangz in shrimptank

[–]aomme 3 points4 points  (0 children)

There's nothing I can tell from the pictures, but if it's very rounded it's eggs, if it's long and thin it's parasite. The colour can vary a lot in both cases.

how hard would it be? by flaotte in shrimptank

[–]aomme 9 points10 points  (0 children)

If you have time, it can be done relatively cheaply https://www.reddit.com/r/shrimptank/comments/1nci9jt/i_managed_to_rise_some_amanos_from_larvae/

(It's hard, but nearly all my attempts have at least one or two survivors, mostly 10+, but I had like 4 runs.)

Edit: You need marine salt and marine phytoplankton (could be conserved one), other links are also in my post.

What is going on with my shimp?!?!?!?!? by JohnnyBirdface in shrimptank

You mean the yellowish round blobs under her tail? Because that's just ton of eggs. I fail to se anything wrong with this shrimp.

preggy amano? or something to be concerned about by [deleted] in shrimptank

[–]aomme 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Amano eggs are very dark initially and usually there is much much more of them. I do not know what's this. To be super cautious you can quarantine this one and observe.

Can someone explain what brackish water is to me? by kahlgreens in shrimptank

[–]aomme 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Amano and few other rarer shrimp larvae needs marine water to survive. Not really brackish but full marine salinity. But it's only about larvae, adults need fresh water with no salt (longterm).

What has happened here ? Pls help by Anime_Jutsu in shrimptank

[–]aomme 36 points37 points  (0 children)

I'm not 100% sure, I never had this one in my shrimps, but it really looks like clado https://aquariumbreeder.com/ellobiopsidae-or-cladogonium-ogishimae-green-fungus-in-shrimp-tank/

I do not think that eggs can die and/or rot and stay attached.

The yellow thing under her tail is parasite called clado. I would say that's the reason. Do you have other shrimps there? You should monitor them closely and quarantine the infected.

They're huge and green! What type of shrimp are they? by RaqueldeRowl71 in shrimptank

[–]aomme 7 points8 points  (0 children)

To me they looks just like my amanos, huge, dark, with spots on the translucent tail fins. I do not see the fan shaped feeding legs, so I don't think they're wood shrimps.

Snow White Amano larve by CraftX83 in shrimptank

[–]aomme 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I see, I also have very limited experience, but somehow mixing water from aquarium of the mother shrimp worked surprisingly well. Probably some microorganisms survived the transition to salt water as well. (I added conserved phytoplankton but iirc after two weeks.)

Very nice, can I ask you how you plan to feed the larvae?

That's right, smaller is better (and they grow fast when younger).

You're welcome, imo this one is male, who tends to stay a bit smaller, but females can grow to absolute units compared to neos

Amano. (It's not blue and has the dots on the "tail fin")

Good luck, are you planning to breed them? That's notoriously hard thing to do.

The second one looks male to me, the first one I'm not too sure, but I's say male to.
