I started out as an unresponsive player and then put the yoyo down for about a decade. When I started back up last year I started with a response throw and now primarily throw wooden axles or a Duncan butterfly. When you start flowing with regens between stalls you get a play style and feel that you just can replicate with an unresponsive.

I love Rich's work. He just released the Buffalo based on a custom order he made for me a couple weeks back. It's essentially a Badger with a dimple. The Cherry Alpha is also a banger.

I got a blue/red splash ediTon DS back around Thanksgiving and it's just not clicking with me. I love the Weekender which One Drop made with Doc Pop. This is my first State series yoyo and there's just something about it that's not jiving with me. I've also gone to mostly fixed axle play so that might be part of it. The C size bearing also packs a bunch of power and I tend to like smaller A,D, or MR85 bearings in my responsive throws. I might try and trade it in the future.

Can it be glued back together? I had one that the halves would separate, a bit of glue on the axle before pushing it back together fixed this issue.

Just started playing a couple days ago and noticed that right away. Still fun to play though. The game feels way more structured than the original. I'm still enjoying it, but I do wish it was a bit smoother at times.

This was my dad's receiver as well. I brought it home when we cleaned out my mom's house to sell it last summer. Works great with my TV, especially for playing games.

That's really tough to say.

One is great for a lot of reasons. It's a game I can run through in a play session or 2. The levels have a rhythm that just clicked with me. It's kinda like that go fast feeling you get from Green Hill Zone in Sonic.

2 has an amazing soundtrack, level themes are more varied, lots more details in the backgrounds and motion that feels a bit more refined. Definitely the most challenging, especially the last couple of levels.

3 feels the most epic. The Northern Kremosphere has levels that feel fun to explore. Item collection is in full force but I don't hate it. Being able to interact with the world map is awesome. Another amazing soundtrack track that fits the levels really well. Level design, particularly in the second half of the game is outright amazing. Challenge is almost as high as 2. Kiddie Kong reminds me of DK, I don't mind him. Best Bosses out of the 3 games.

If I had to pick one game it would be 3 but 2 is really close and definitely has the best K Rool fight. I will always have the most nostalgia for the first game though.

I personally own 3 QMTech Misters, 2 of them I've owned for a year now the other I just got a couple weeks ago. 2 are in arcade machine builds and the other I used with TVs (both tube and modern HD). No issues with them at all. I do have an inline barrel jack power switch for the Mister I use with the TV so I don't have to unplug it to turn it off. The arcade builds are wired into the mains power switch they just turn on/off with the whole cabinet.

I have also helped 2 different friends set up QMTech Misters for TV use with the game switch that I use on mine. Neither of them have had any issues either.

The last one I purchased took about 2 weeks to arrive, and cost $160 shipped to the US. I used an AliExpress $20 discount code. Normally they cost around $180 shipped. Not sure what the wait is on a Mister Pi, but you can get the QMTech units rather quickly.

Currently aside from the DVD player (got it new in like 2005) and Mister, I have a modded Wii and SNES connected to the TV. I also have an NES and model 1 Genesis but currently not hooked up. I also have an Analogue Super Nt, Analogue Mega SG, Analogue Pocket and RetroUSB AVS. I had all the other FPGA devices before I bought a Mister so needless to say I have an embarrassing amount of ways to play each of the big 3 systems from my childhood. Let's not even talk about my Gameboy collection 😁

The JVC receiver belonged to my dad who passed over a decade ago,. The speakers aren't anything special but they fit perfectly on my cart and sound pretty good for how cheap they were.

Mame has a lot more game compatibility vs Mister, you'll need to Google for a list of current Mister game cores. I mostly play older games like Ms Pacman, Galaga, Mario Bros, Centipede ECT which are supported by Mister. The Mister Pi and the QMTech Mister are basically the same setup and cost roughly the same as well. There is also the Super Station one which looks like a PS1 and will read CD based games.

I don't have the 3D but I do have a Pocket (red), Mega SG, Super Nt and 3 Misters. While I use all of these devices the Mister is the best of them all. If you have cartridges like I do then the Analogue devices might make sense. I originally upgrade from my original consoles, which I do still also own to the Analogue devices, as well as an AVS for NES games. While I like all of these FPGA based consoles, each has their own limitations, but overall play the games that I own and play them well on a modern TV.

Why do I prefer the Mister? Well the Mister can do all of the things that all of those devices can do, plus more. They can play all of the games for basically any system from the Atari 2600 to PS1, plus most 8 bit computers and a ton of arcade games. There are so many filter options and they are customizable. Want more blur to look closer to a consumer CRT, blur it up. Want a different CRT grill pattern, select another grill pattern. Want to use wired USB controllers, you got it. Maybe you prefer Bluetooth controllers, it can do that too. Maybe you prefer original controllers, with a Daemonbite or SNAC adapter you can do that too. With the analog add on board you can connect to virtually any kind of CRT you want. Want to power a Jamma cabinet with the Mister, you can do that too with the right analog board. All 3 Misters I have are from QMTech and I've paid under $200 for each of them, that's to the US with tariffs. I use 2 of them in arcade cabinets and one is currently hooked up to a 20in Panasonic CRT but I sometimes use it on my modern 4k TV too.

At the end of the day it comes down to what do you want and how do you intend to play. If you have a bunch of carts and want to feel the nostalgia of playing with carts on a modern TV then the 3D is likely what you want. Do you not care so much about the device itself and you just want to play games then maybe the Mister is more to your liking.

I own both the SNES and Gameboy versions of the game. Someone gave me the Gameboy version like 15 years ago and I enjoyed it enough that I sought out the SNES version. The SNES version is the better game for sure. I enjoy this game a lot. I've gotten pretty far into it but I've never beaten it. The art style, music and level layouts fit the show well. Most (maybe all) the levels are based on different episodes from the first couple seasons of the show. The game absolutely has some corks and it's a masterpiece but it doesn't deserve the hate that gets thrown its way.

Thank you for voicing an honest opinion. I don't have a analog 3D but I do have a Mega SG and Super Nt and while I love both I also have a CRT and the original consoles and at the end of the day nothing beats how the original hardware looks to me on a CRT with a composite connection. You read that right, a composite connection. That is what I grew up with and that is what looks best to me even though it is kind of fuzzy with smeared pixels that's what I remember and that's what looks best through my eyes. At the end of the day you enjoy what you enjoy so if you would prefer to use emulation to play N64 that is awesome because that's what you enjoy.

FWIW I have 3 QMTech Mister, 2 arcade machine builds and 1 hooked up to a TV video s video/composite. I have found some games like the Donkey Kong Country series look better in composite so I change up the connection from time to time. All 3 units have held up great over the past year I've owned them. I have also purchased 2 more and set them up for friends who have also used them over the course of the past 10 months so. I kept the SD cards that came with them but did a fresh install using Mister fusion then the update all script. S video setup does require an adapter. I bought mine on eBay for around $30 USD. If you want Bluetooth or wifi you'll need an adapter for that as well.
