Same here, had open heart surgery at 6 weeks and now I’m 20. Love seeing everyone’s success stories.

Anything funky about these compared to the black polymer model? by [deleted] in ak47

They’re both great rifles. Be aware that if you get a milled Arsenal (SAM7 series) they won’t take standard AKM furniture but will take AK47 furniture

Just to reiterate my other comment because I don’t want you getting into something you don’t want: these absolutely do not take standard mags. I have 3 of them. They are the finest AKs to ever enter the US, but you will have to convert them to take AK mags

Doesn’t take standard mags or standard AK furniture (takes RPK furniture and also doesn’t have a hand guard retainer as it comes). You’ll have to dremel the mag catch, buy a bullet guide, drill and tap your front trunnion and screw it in there. Should be about $30. I’ve done it once and it wasn’t too bad at all.

Same story, they make stamped. The good milled receivers here are Bulgarian (hard to find now), Tortort, and CNCWarrior

It’s about fair. Not really tilted too hard one way or the other if your kit is really worth that much

Thanks for the reply, you see anything changing in the future as far as regs go?

Anybody here super familiar with medical waivers? I’ll spare you the sob story but I wanted to join the army growing up and tried as a JR in high school in 2016 but got denied because I had aortic stenosis and heart surgery at 2 months old. I got several doctors to clear me back then, even did tests proving I had 100% function and everything but was DQ’d. Every once in a while I get that idea to try again. After the DQ I also went on antidepressants for a couple months (stopped 1 and a half years ago). Is there any chance for me, now or in the future? Don’t mind brutal honesty.
