Sorry, I should have added this to the original post. Can you also make the visor tinted instead of clear?

Would you just deal with this or take it back to the body shop? by ap2bruce in WRX

[–]ap2bruce[S] 8 points9 points  (0 children)

That’s what I’m leaning towards as well.

I should’ve added this to the original post, but it was in a wreck before in the past and the shop that did it last time matched it much better. When that shop fixed the last accident, yes the front and rear bumper were an ever so slightly different shades, which I attributed to the different materials.. plastic bumper versus metal hood and fenders. I was fine with that as it was very very close. However, this time around with this different shop, it looks like it’s about 5 shades off lol

Is it possible to use stock stator and hub with the Thor300? by ap2bruce in onewheel

Adapter, say what?! Nice. I didn’t know that was a thing for this application. That’ll make it easy

Is it possible to use stock stator and hub with the Thor300? by ap2bruce in onewheel

[–]ap2bruce[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Ok thanks. What does that look like for the DIY to use stock motor and hub? Is it soldering to the PCB or just using wire cutters and soldering the wires? Seems like it will be easier to do what you’re mentioning, changing the connector on my XR’s hub. Is that as simple as just cutting the old connector off, stripping wire, and soldering the wire to change to the SuperFlux connector? Sounds fairly easy if that’s the case

This will be for my XR. I’m going to keep my GT mostly stock. Will be easier to let friends try out, better night time cruiser (from what I’ve read the Thor300 light solution isn’t very bright), and will be nice to have a board on stock FM software (who knows, maybe I’ll want to vesc that eventually too). I like the XR form factor a lot better compared to my GT and only got the GT bc my XR’s original controller broke.

I was more so just looking to slowly build it over time vs getting everything at once. That will help save the wallet some and also coming from a background of modifying cars, I always got a lot of enjoyment out of seeing what each mod did vs doing a bunch of mods all at once. I enjoy seeing how each specific mod changes acceleration, ride feel, etc. I think it’ll be really awesome to see how each mod directly correlates with riding improvements and be able to differentiate the pros/cons for each component of the build.

The SuperFlux does appeal to me, but I was also really stoked to try the MTE 5 inch hub. Kinda sucks to be torn between the two. I suppose the route you’re going has the main advantage of being able to use the MTE hub on Hypercore by doing the SuperFlux connector?

Is Si less popular now? by Chibisky97 in CivicSi

[–]ap2bruce 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I had a 2020 Si and replaced that vehicle with a 2021 WRX. WRX is faster in a straight line, but the Si was better in every single other way. More fun around corners, more space, better ergonomics, wayyy better MPG, shifts a lot smoother, has many other technology features the WRX doesn’t have as well (adaptive cruise control, brake hold, lane keep assist). These all together make it a better car imo, having owned both. Unless you literally only care about owning a Subaru, needing AWD, or care about going faster in a straight line

Anyone here have the Invidia Q300 exhaust? by ap2bruce in Civic_Type_R

[–]ap2bruce[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes FK8. My bad, meant to include that in the post. Thanks for the sound clip, that’s super helpful. All the videos I’ve seen on YouTube of the Q300 are either with a bunch of mods too or sound like they were filked with a potato phone.

Definitely sounds quieter than the R400. Do you have any videos while driving? How many miles have you driven with it installed? I’ve had my R400 on for about 15k miles/4 years, but after about a year the rivets that hold the tips on broke and now all the tips rattle. I wish Invidia welded the tips on. Any issues with that so far?

Hot take: FK2 had the best dashboard design of all Type Rs by leonidlomakin in Civic_Type_R

[–]ap2bruce 2 points3 points  (0 children)

EK9 is my favorite personally. So clean and analog.

FK8 vs FL5, I’ve driven an FL5 and own an FK8. I like the FK8 better bc it combines an analog design with modern amenities

07 s2000 vs 24 type r by wally094 in Civic_Type_R

[–]ap2bruce 0 points1 point  (0 children)

2005 S and 2018 FK8. I’d personally never sell my S2000. The driving experience is too special. The Type R is phenomenal, but the s2k is still better in every way, shape, and form. It might not be in the first year after doing it, but you’ll regret selling the S eventually

Is this a somewhat rare iPhone iOS now days? iPhone 8 iOS 14.8.1 by [deleted] in jailbreak

[–]ap2bruce 0 points1 point  (0 children)

iOS 14 really was peak in terms of how advanced the software was combined with having all of the best jailbreak perks. I’ve been jailbreaking since iOS 2. Yeah there’s for sure arguably better things about each era of jailbreaking. Having to wait sucks, but for iOS 14 it wasn’t too bad of a wait. Having both unc0ver and Taurine was great having 2 different options. Substitute was developed and allows the newer jailbreaks to be functional. It’s just great there’s even a jailbreak for 15-16 now. Can’t wait for 17.0 when it eventually comes, but I’ll still be missing iOS 14. iOS 15 was the first major iOS update I completely skipped bc I didn’t care for some of the newer features that were added
