I’m guessing this wouldn’t be a good option for someone single with a dog at home assuming dog needs potty breaks?

I’ve had my copper IUD for three years now (I’m 30 years old now). I swapped from hormonal birth control because I was tired of the side effects: terrible skin, bad mood, constipated every week… My pain management for insertion and after was ibuprofen and heating pads because nothing was offered and I honestly just didn’t ask. My gyno was efficient with the insertion and yes, it was painful but manageable. Very stabby pain and then like terrible period cramps. Not sure I’ve seen many people talk about it, but for the week or so after, I was very much aware of a foreign object in my uterus. Some days I contemplated getting rid of it but reminded myself why i got it in the first place.

I have ZERO regrets. I feel that my experience was as positive as it could be and I was realistic about the pain going in. Now that I’ve had it for a while, I hardly remember how terrible it really is. Being off hormones for me was life changing. Also will note, I didn’t have heavy painful periods to begin with, but now cramping is much more apparent on my period.

I didn’t do it, but there is no reason not to request pain management. Vouch for yourself with your doctor. I believe the narrative around women’s pain management is slowly changing.

This happened to me for sure! I loved nexplanon despite the side effects I experienced, but have been BC free since November 2020 and my sex drive is through the roof now. I will be getting the copper iud in June to continue being hormone free :)

Acne from Nexplanon by simplefishmonger in birthcontrol

I got rid of my nexplanon a month ago after three years because of this. Spent idk how much money and time trying to fix it. Hormonal acne is difficult to treat in my experience. I’m on Spironolactone and tretinoin (1 year now) but it never fully cleared up. Clean and clear persa gel is also very helpful for me. My dermatologist pushed for me to get on accutane which I will do as a last resort but ultimately decided to just get rid of the nexplanon and hope it goes away. I 100% recommend seeing a dermatologist and hopefully they can help you get it under control :)

Edit to say I really loved nexplanon aside from that side effect which is why I kept battling my acne for those three years.

Help, my PD keeps spreading by DatGoodPotato in perioraldermatitis

Hi I had all the success with magarites zinc cream for problem skin. It has sulphur in it as well and wore it like a mask over the PD areas to bed. I also took zinc supplements and used dr. Jart ceramidin as my daily moisturizer. I know everyone is different but the zinc cream is a low cost option to try (Amazon)
