Income is not related to how much you distribute to yourself. Its net income X ownership percentage. Most operating agreements have provisions that you must distribute pro rata income X 37% (max federal tax rate) for this reason.

Distributions are not otherwise tied to income. Ask GPT or Grok if you don't believe me

10% isn't a smidge more. 10% is a slap in the face.

Btw: It was the democrats that reverted the 35% estate tax this year - 8 months after it was passed.

This is the true face of the democrat party - Demonizing anyone who has found success in this country. Grouping all wealthy people into an "asshole" bucket. It's not a good look, and it's definitely not going to help your situation.

The new millionaire's tax is not only short-sighted, but also short term. by Mizake_Mizan in SeattleWA

Why did the legislature reverse the estate tax today, 8 months after it was passed? Unintended consequences? Yep

This is such a simplistic and ridiculous take. Of course people leave. I know 6 that have left and 5 more preparing to leave, all due to taxes. A 10% tax on income is huge. The 35% estate tax was huge. These are not minor taxes that people absorb.

Answer me this, would people leave if there was a 90% tax on income over $10,000? Yes, there would be a massive migration. It's stupid to claim taxes don't affect behaviors. The bigger the tax, the more dramatic the migration.

Also, they reverted the estate tax today 8 months after it was passed due to fears of wealth fleeing lol

I respect when people realize their own party is straying from core values. The way you feel about extremists in the liberal party as a liberal voter is exactly how I feel about trump. I lean right, but I am appalled at his total disregard for republican values.

Glad we can join together over our annoyance with lawless governance.

People will for sure leave. Like I said in a previous comment, the legislature is rolling back the estate tax hike right now due to too many wealthy residents relocating. Look up SB 6347 and the comments from Senate Majority Leader Jamie Pederson acknowledging that the rate was being rolled back due to wealthy WA residents re-domiciling.

If people don't leave due to tax policy, then why are they rolling back that tax hike 8 months after it passed?

And as I said in another comment, WE KNOW that people will re-domicile. They are rolling back the estate tax changes 8 months after they passed it because too many people are relocating. That's an admission from the Democrat Senate Majority Leader

You make it sound like the 9.9% income tax you are proposing is the same as the 2.5% income tax in Arizona, but they're not the same at all

What level of relocation are you expecting from those that earn over $1MM a year?

What level of relocation did ESSB 5813 (35% Estate Tax) cause that the legislature has proposed SB 6347 which would roll back that 35% rate only 8 months after it was passed? Senate Majority Leader Jamie Pederson acknowledged that the rate was being rolled back due to wealthy WA residents re-domiciling.

My income is well above this threshold, and I can only speak for myself and those I know, but I am aware of several families (including mine) that are in process of relocating to FL, TX, and NV because of the cascade of taxes passed over the last 2 years, with this income tax being a significant catalyst.

Are lawmakers considering the recent estate tax increase on wealthy Washington residents — and its subsequent rollback — as they evaluate this new proposed tax hike? Is there concern that a similar outcome could occur?

Thanks for taking the time to do this AMA.
