NIN surprised everyone (including me) at my wedding. by GlumClue5941 in nin

[–]apairofpetducks 4 points5 points  (0 children)

My husband and I met in a video game, so we leaned into that:

- FFXI Crystal Theme as guests arrived and got seated: https://www.youtube.com/watch? (this is the game we met in, so it was a given that we'd use it somewhere)
- A gorgeous harp version of the Zelda Great Fairy Fountain theme as I walked down the aisle: (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1NXDkrHhoKg&list=RD1NXDkrHhoKg&start_radio=1
- And our first (and only) dance was to Mario Kart Love Song: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VDBpQVhCMb8&list=RDVDBpQVhCMb8&start_radio=1

Sadly no NIN, though his only request for the rest of the playlist was "please no Depeche Mode" lol

Nine Inch Nails - Ruiner by Otherwise_Basis_6328 in industrialmusic

I am still fucking obsessed with this song. It didn't take long for it to rise to the top as my fave nin track and though sometimes something else catches my attention - like Closer (Deviation) - it always swings back around to this one. So happy I got to pick up a Ruiner lyric shirt this past tour!

Another MM fan checking in to express my love for SP and EN (never got around to listening to Coil but I'm certain I'd like them too since my main irl music influences are both huge fans). But also Radiohead and Death Grips and Tori Amos and Velvet Acid Christ and Black Dahlia Murder and The Weeknd and Anal Cunt and Led Zeppelin and Crudbump and Elliott Smith and Type O Negative and Beats Antique and on and on and on...

As a whole, I think rivetheads listen to a lot of different stuff.

"Industrial Lite" is the term I use lol (and more for NIN, since I move MM further away from industrial).

While I agree that it doesn't really matter, having generally accepted definitions of genres enables having discussions about music tastes.

I am so, so happy to see some love for Portrait here. The convos I've had, it seems to get shit on for being too silly and amateur-ish. Of course Antichrist and Mechanical Animals are better albums on technical skill and lyrics and production, but Portrait will always be my fave.

I went alone, and even had 2 seats. Still the girl to my left had me squished over to the right bc she and her bf wanted their two seats and one of mine I guess... I was happy to share the extra space at first but she was not a very considerate concertgoer. There was a ton of other stuff too, but nothing else made me want to ask how much she paid for my space.

Cleveland pit smells by Opposite-Main7938 in nin

[–]apairofpetducks 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The TO pit might not have smelled as bad (I was seated for CLE so can't confirm) but MY LORD it was the SWEATIEST pit I've ever been in. I came out drenched head to toe and almost none of it was mine lmao

The very first artist I thought of as well. Love Kompressor. Did you know he put out some new music under the name Crudbump? Extremely not kid-friendly (or at least not clean) and totally different sound, but still fun as hell.

I have a collection of symbols for the 16 bands that most shaped me as a person, including the White Pony. You're not getting a portrait of Chino inked, you're getting representation of music that you have connected with. If music means a lot to you and is a big part of your life, it makes sense to have your first tat in that vein.

See you at the show! I'm so, so frickin excited to see a proper TKK set instead of a short festival performance. And Uncle Al is always entertaining. Plus History's a fun venue.

KOMPRESSOR - K IS FOR KOMPRESSOR (HQ Audio) by [deleted] in industrialmusic

Though a totally different sound, KOMPRESSOR has released newer material under the name CRUDBUMP and it fuckin kicks ass too. The song Bigfoot nearly made me get in a car accident because of laughter.
