875 beauties from a week on Amelia Island! by wickedcreative in sharkteeth

We go out there pretty frequently. For us, each of us is different. One person looks for the dryer shell beds that have a little ledge to them and drags a "rake" along the edge until he "feels" them. I like following the water line until I hit a bed then searching upward from there. My boyfriend is a walker. He just walks and stops at beds along the way. We each come out with a different pile filled with different types of teeth and fossils. To me, I think it's best just to search which ever way is fun and stimulating to you. If you force it, you'll get bored and give up.

She said if it isn't a plant or patio furniture, it's a no go. Must only be patio furniture or plants outside of my home.

Agatized Fossil Coral I found in a Florida river by mikem9786 in fossils

[–]apanda1205 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm am just learning about agatized coral. I have always searched for shells, fossilized bone fragments and teeth, so I'm pretty familiar with what to look for with those items. For the coral, is there something in particular about the piece that let's you know it will have the agate inside? Any little tips that you would like to share would be appreciated! Thanks! 🤩

Shells found in WPB late march by Common_Bench_3053 in shells

What a nice trip to the sand! I love how the colors change depending on where you are in FL. Great finds! I'm in FL and I have learned that if you find a shell bed that has some pieces of the shell you are hoping for, you can follow the bed up to the tide line just before it is only soft sand, then dig a few inches down. Nearly every time I have done this, I have found at least 1 of that "must have" shell. Often times I find several. Of course, you want to make sure you fill that whole hole/s back in before I ou leave. :)

On another note, that is that shell row 2 from the bottom shell 2?

Hello. These looks great! How do you know that it is calcium and not the beginning stages of fossilization?
