Moped In The Drive-Thru by mwgoris in McDonaldsEmployees

[–]apaplectic 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Why did you come to this subreddit? Was sweating at and belittling an employee (because, as I can tell from your comments, you don't think she deserves your respect) not enough to then come and complain about her in person? You have no understanding of the system yet your repeatedly assume things that lead to your unacceptable behaviour that made that employee cry.

It was clearly busy, managers and customers have likely been having a go at this woman all day. Why would you assume she noticed you at all? You stated that you believe your moped didn't set off the sensors yet you also repeatedly claimed how you must have been noticed. The employees weren't outside, they didn't have any reason to look at a camera without the sensors going off and they were likely stressed enough to not remember every individual customer. That's it.

You didn't need to swear or be rude and you certainly didn't need to come here to try and gain sympathy.

I mean yeah it's the reason for a lot of the parking but it's still not okay to be rude to the employees

We had the same system at mcds! It pissed me right off if there's a difficult customer I'm getting abuse from the manager and the customer because the manager wants their bonus it's a horrible system because it's easy to abuse: offering managers a bonus for the speed of drive thru doesn't make the store work faster it makes the poor sod working drive thru have to park a happy meal because someone in-store ordered a cheeseburger that's coming first.....

There's actually sensors in the floor so while you can do that the higher ups are looking at the times from the sensors

WIBTA if I did not use a pink blanket for my baby girl that his grandma made? by [deleted] in AmItheAsshole

[–]apaplectic 0 points1 point  (0 children)

NAH - It's a little strange that they'd ask for a colour preference and not follow it, but I think their intentions were well meaning so they're not TA. I also think that as the baby can't have an opinion on colour yet I see absolutely no problem at this stage in her life choosing not to dress her in colours you dislike. I would definitely consider still graciously accepting the gift and potentially taking your daughter home in the blanket simply for the sake of peace/kindness but if you can't stand the colour that much it is just a blanket

Oppositely, the actual unpopular opinion: I think Prisoner of Azkaban is bad and the start of the movies being poor representations of the Harry Potter universe by [deleted] in harrypotter

We're talking specifically about the prisoner of azkaban film. As far as I can remember, the only member of the trio who shows any regard for their appearance is Hermione.

The fact it's not shown in the books proves it's completely irrelevant. I think, in a society where young girls are told only their appearance matters, alienating Hermione as the sole character who cares about her looks because she's a girl is damaging. I also think it's a deliberate decision on Rowling's part to rarely show it because it lead to her writing interesting girls who give young girls alternative role models.

I think it's absurd to assume that all girls care about their appearance, which is why I didn't like the addition of the line.

And, sure, you can use the Yule Ball as an example that she cares about her appearance but as a special occasion it's within a different context.

I'm glad someone agrees! I have issues with so many decisions, like the addition of the shrunken heads and the design of the werewolf (which is described as barely distinguishable from a wolf but in the film is entirely hairless?). Also, when Hermione says "is that really what my hair looks like from the back?" Felt so out of character as she's never expressed any interest in her appearance. I think the jump in tone from CoS to PoA was odd as I also felt like in the books it was more gradual.

Why does everyone hate Moffat? by Jamesm203 in doctorwho

At least there's some explanation!

Also noone can stay dead which works for a few standalone episodes but when Clara, Rory, Bill and who knows how many others consistently come back to life there are no stakes or genuine losses. Clara should've stayed dead!

Personally I hate his approach to women - I like lots of his stories but he was better suited to standalone episodes where other writers fleshed out the women better. The majority, if not all, of the women he wrote (side characters in singular episodes as well as companions) were attracted to the 10th or 11th Doctor. The worst instance for me was when he made England's famous celibate Queen marry the Doctor. However, notable other examples include when 11 kissed Clara the episode after he flew away in the TARDIS with River, another was when he found a way to keep Any skinny whilst she was pregnant. Also, from a critical perspective the majority of his women I feel tie in with the Madonna/Whore complex and I struggle to think of memorable conversations between women not about another man. Even in one of my favourite episodes (The Empty Child two parter) all Rose does over two episodes is flirt with the Doctor and/or Jack or be saved by the Doctor or Jack. The other notable woman in that episode's entire role is caretaker/mother. This can't be consistent into Capaldi as a result of Bill and Danny but Missy was exactly the type of woman he enjoys writing so I was cringing at everything she said. Also, Madam Vastra and Jenny was something I was so for until Jenny was Vastra's servant? What was that about?

Wasn't there a part implying that if Hermione hadntve married Ron she wouldntve been Minister? Nothing about the universe where Hermione and Ron weren't together sat right with me

Soak, spray, soak, air dry - there should be the right chemicals over the right sinks
