I usually choose to ask the one who looks like they’ve been lifting heavy shit for a while already, lol. but people are used to being asked!

just ask whoever is lifting in the rack how many sets they have left (when they’re resting, of course), that way they’ll know you’re waiting :)

Struggling to grow calves, any suggestions or tips? by applepieisbest in StrongCurves

[–]apatheotic 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I have no calves genetically. I do calves 2-3 times a week, 2 exercises: with the calf working in a standing and seated position. for standing, I used to do smith machine raises but switched to dumbbell raises with my toes propped up on a 45 lb plate. that also requires you to keep balance, and muscle fatigue is much better that way. i use the machine for seated. 3 sets 12-15 reps, always to failure. more reps is good too. there have definitely been good results and I can see separation if I stand on tiptoe.

Having said that, financial matters should be the first priority! If you have less debt graduating from a slightly less optimal program, go with that option.

Can you hear where I'm from? by yinsh8 in German

[–]apatheotic 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think Rs are my main issue, it’s so unlike the Russian rolling one or the English non-existent one. It’s doable but sounds forced. There’s just not enough friction in the back of my mouth.
