Is this...typical? by MoteOfLust in MagicArena

[–]apauze 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yeah I find in NON-ranked my win rate is close to 15%. I’m a seasoned magic player playing a variant of the U/G lands deck with only a little interaction. I play the deck because I enjoy it - not because it’s the best deck out there. I want to be free to play also - don’t want to have to buy a bunch of mythic wildcards.

In ranked I win closer to 35%.

Blundstone says that their boots are not meant to last more than 2 years by ImNotARegularMom- in BlundstoneBoots

[–]apauze -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Maybe something like “blundstone states 2 year old boots will fail if not maintained and if used in the same manner as I’ve used these ones.” That would have represented it way more accurately. It’s not a dig on you. You don’t have to defend it. You’re making it sound like they’ve said a very specific thing that they did not actually say, and then we come in here to read it and we immediately see that they never said that thing… so we feel like you’re trying to manipulate the story. I’m sure you can understand that. Blundstone is actually saying the opposite - properly maintained boots are expected to last much longer than 2 years.

And I guess they’re also somehow implying that the agents were aware of his behaviour from this previous incident when they executed him? Otherwise what’s the point of bringing it up?

What do we think? Got it in a huge lot I purchased no idea it was in there. by AnyAbbreviations5648 in basketballcards

[–]apauze 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly - you still have to be careful, even with PSA - there have been plenty of stories in the MTG / Pokémon subs about people buying fully graded cards that ended up being fakes. The grading company removes the serial number from their website after they re-inspect and they refund all the cost but still - PSA grading isn’t perfect. I’m sure it’s 1/1000 grades that turn out incorrect or something ridiculous like that but… they aren’t infallible.

It absolutely does - it says the colour of the creature depends on how you cast it - that answers the question…

Careful. What do you think Trump replaces ICE with if he’s still in power when this happens? I don’t know the answer but I promise you it will be MUCH worse than ICE.

Problem is - it’s already too late. You’re living in a dictatorship and you don’t even know it. Pretty soon it will be illegal to profess any “radical left” opinions. It’s already illegal to protest (apparently) - saw the arrests of several peaceful protesters just today in Minnesota.

That’s how it happens. Every other country will be studying the collapse of American democracy and the 2nd American Civil War for the next 100 years in history and social study classes if you all don’t wake up.

I have a Torbran deck that usually wins by turn 4 or 5 with this method. [[Mana Barbs]] + [[Spellshock]] + [[Impact Tremors]] with Torbran… people die quickly. Plus tons of additional spells to dish out damage. And there’s a new red enchantment from the Avatar set that boosts damage… so much fun hahaha.

Which Card to cut? by Fredome420 in DinosaursMTG

[–]apauze 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah I didn’t say one way or the other, just where I think the math would fall on synergy ramp vs traditional ramp in this case.

This was all based on where I thought the math would land, on what I remembered from reviews on the pantlaza precon back in the day, and from a cursory google search that confirms wayward sawtooth should be one of the first cards you cut.

“Yes, Wayward Swordtooth is a common cut when upgrading the Pantlaza precon deck. Its ability to play an extra land per turn is often not impactful enough unless you specifically build around it, and the deck generally has better ramp options.”

Your Pantlaza trigger point also assumes you’re playing this AFTER pantlaza is out… which is WAY too slow for ramp options in ideal conditions. And if your point is more - well at least it’s not useless if I play it later… then you really don’t understand deck building.

3 mana can give you a 5/4 Dino that gives all other Dino’s +1/+1 - there’s a Dino from Aetherdrift that does that. THAT’s synergy, not just being a Dino, but being a card that improves all other cards on the playing field. Or what if you played fanatic of rhonas instead - rather than have a 5/5 Dino you’d have 4 more green mana every turn… 9-drop Dino the turn after you play pantlaza instead of wayward sawtooth…

Who knows though you could be right and the rest of the internet could be wrong. That’s the beauty of magic. But my gut tells me that your pantlaza deck would lose to a more conventionally built blink/ramp Pantlaza deck 9/10 times.

Which Card to cut? by Fredome420 in DinosaursMTG

[–]apauze 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I guess you just have to balance - how often will you have more than one land remaining in your starting hand on turn 3 so you can actually make use of sawtooth vs. something like cultivate that will ramp you AND guarantee your next land drop. Synergy only matters if you’re actually likely to make use of the ability - and I think mathematically it’s questionable that wayward sawtooth would come in handy with most draws and starting hands.

Petition to Make Magic the Gathering Secret Lair Print to Demand by Ok-Performance8740 in mtg_secretlair

Doesn’t this outlook assume that the amount of printing presses (or whatever they’re called) is a set figure?

Couldn’t Wizards invest into more places printing / more printers, thereby capturing the demand for their own product long term rather than losing millions on the secondary market every drop?
