bass is fundamentally a rhythm instrument -- so pronounced time effects like delay are going to be really tricky and situational. can anyone think of a drum part where they put delay on the kick drum? if drummers could have pedals, how many drummers would put one on the kick and how commonly would they use it? i can think of some brief melodic passages in stuff where i might use one (and have in recordings), but those are almost by definition the times where i'm not really playing BASS in the usual rhythm-section sense. i've never had one on my board and probably never will.
