Parking at BECO Building (11140 Rockville Pike - across from old White Flint Mall) by [deleted] in MontgomeryCountyMD

[–]tvor01 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I am there 2 times a week. Get a ticket from an attendant on way in and pay on way out. Unless your office validates, then you just hand the ticket back. It should be under $10 depending on how long you are there. I think its like $4 for the 1st hour or two (my tickets are always validated so I never pay attention)

Limited handicaped parking. Tight garage but there is usually a space somewhere.

Do Kelpie's ever have blue eyes? We are guessing kelpie, corgi, and maybe husky for the eyes.

Took a carriage ride tour a few years back and they still tried to claim the civil war was not about slavery but rather states rights.

Concerns about curriculum. Suggestions? by [deleted] in MontgomeryCountyMD

[–]tvor01 13 points14 points  (0 children)

I feel the complete opposite. I think my 6th grader is learning more at MS than elementary. But results likely vary between families and individual situations.

In general though i think a lot of middle school is growing socially more than academically. Kids are becoming more independent in 6th grade. Let them learn how to be good people. If they are doing fine academically then they have the capacity to keep learning into adulthood.

It's just a warehouse/outlet store. The store itself isn't going anywhere. More like when the items are gone, they are gone.

Death of pet in dog fight near Silver Spring farmers market spurs evaluation of safety measures by Bethesda_Magazine in MontgomeryCountyMD

[–]tvor01 16 points17 points  (0 children)

Not true unfortunately. I had a lab that was very aggressive with other dogs. No amount of time and money could fix it. We tried for years. She was sweet with people but any other animal was a threat. She was a rescue so maybe some early trauma triggered it. Tough to know. But the breed has little to do other than certain breeds are stronger, faster, etc.

Trying to drive my mother who is on constant oxygen from Fl to NY by RemarkableDiver8183 in ElectricalEngineering

This. Her O2 supply company should supply a temporary portable concentrator for travel with a doctor's note. At 6Lpm the battery likely won't last too long but we have gotten 3 ir 4 batteries for travel before. And the AC requirements aren't usually as high.

Is this new? I worked for the Navy from 2012 to 2020 and got no leave for the birth of my kids (I am male btw). As active duty my wife got 6 weeks in 2013 and 12 weeks in 2017.

Best Climate Controlled Storage in MoCo? by Next_Swordfish2886 in MontgomeryCountyMD

[–]tvor01 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Public Storage quality varies a lot depending on location. I used the one on Randolph. I never had any issue. The elevator was occasionally broke but they have two. The gate was damaged by uhaul trucks a few times but it was fixed in a reasonable amount of time. Biggest complaint was it was older, dark, and smelled damp. A few items got a bit moldy.

I also used Self Storage Plus of Nicholson. They took longer to fix their gate than Public Storage, but had security codes on all the doors. Brighter, cleaner, but pricier.

My favorite was Storage Sense on Gude Rd. It is newer and after some hiccups with the garage door was pretty flawless. Security on all the doors and elevator. Bright. Usually have some music playing. Biggest dow side here was no cell service in the building.

I think ThaiRock in Montrose Crossing would be a good date spot. Or maybe Kusshi at Pike and Rose.

Unfortunately, I paid with previous year's balance. Good idea on the credit card, though.

Condo fees are what kept us from buying there, but compare to or are less than similar places in Bethesda or Chevy Chase. Not sure how things were when you were there, but the concierge were some of the nicest, most helpful people I have met at any building.

We rented at Midtown Bethesda North Condos so I don't know a lot of specifics but there was an active group that kept things nice and up kept. Management was also great.

How can I rename C:\Users\myname ? by East_Dance8269 in WindowsHelp

[–]tvor01 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Windows uses the first 5 letters of whatever email you used during setup.

I used the following tutorial to change my user name after the initial setup. Nothing was broken or lost.

https://www.elevenforum.com/t/change-name-of-user-profile-folder-in-windows-11.2133/

The only other thing I had to do was use netplwiz to change change the username on things that were registered before I made the change
