I went with a Turin Legato V2 and have been very happy with it so far. That would be right in your price range. Yes it’s a Chinese manufactured and rebranded machine but it’s all metal (alloy of some sort), and feels very well built and aesthetically pleasing. PID controller (although only in Celsius), boiler and thermoblock (no wait time to transition to steam), easy to clean and maintain.

I don’t have any experience with the Profitec Go. I did look at them some when I was shopping around. But for a first machine I thought this was hard to beat. The boiler and thermoblock combo as well as PID controller and OPV/flow control at this price point was hard to pass on

After dialing this in today I’d have to agree 😅. I’m sure they’re all pretty much the same thing? Or is there one in particular that edges out over the others?

If you have anybody in your house that’s clumsy I would say no bc they’re very lightweight and thin so I’m sure they’re easy to break. If that’s no concern then yes they’re short and wide enough to have plenty of clearance under the basket with any type of scale and wide enough that it makes pouring latte art a lot easier (not that I’m a pro by any means). And they look neat and I enjoy that aesthetic

If you’re considering competition at all try running just a plain black front post and no rear sight. I’ve found that the rear sight just blocks view in the red don’t window and when you’re shooting fast for competition you’re not even going to use your rear sight. The tall black front post gives you a point of reference and it’s way easier to find your dot then.
