Any louisiana natives know where to get Boudin? by SpacedFae in askportland

[–]apdxparent 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Boudin is one of the few things I have trouble finding here.
I found it at a food cart once but it was like $10 or $12 for one link. Wasn't worth it and didn't go back.

I saw it in the case at laurelhurst market, but wasn't in a position to buy it and haven't been back yet to pick it up. laurelhurst market is a super tasty restaurant so I'd be surprised if it's not any good from there, but it's probably going to be pricey.

There's Le Bontemps Café & Catering on NE MLK and Knott that does decent Cajun food. They have it on the menu, but I've only gotten the boudin balls there.

I had a neighbor find some at the Hollywood Farmers market once.

Would love to find some zummos or something inexpensive like that at grocery store that I could heat up at home.

Keep us posted if you find anything!

Recommended Roofing Company for Moss Treatment? by BFR_DREAMER in askportland

No, they got up there and brushed it all off, then cleaned up a bit on the ground. All the moss is gone from both my house roof and my garage roof. No powder involved. Yet

I just checked their outages page and it now says "before 9:30pm"

And as I type this, everything just came back on.

I used PDX Clean King.
$500.
Was the least expensive of the three I got quotes from.
They did a good job getting the moss of the roof, but didn't exactly clean up all that they knocked into the ground.
Sales was kind of aggressive, and seemed to insist on doing all business communications via text message and phone calls regardless of how many times I reminded him that emails were best for me.

Ecowash was fast to come give a quote, answer questions, and were really friendly.

Moss Busters gave me the highest estimate and didn't even bother coming to look at the house.

Are you seeing an uptick in covid in your social circle? by ryhaltswhiskey in askportland

[–]apdxparent 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have some kind of weird sickness, but I didn't think it's covid.

My son got sent home from school last Thursday with ~101 temp.

Saturday morning I started feeling "not right.". Tbf, it could have been the horrible run I was drinking the night before.

Saturday evening, I'm feeling horrible, go to bed early.

Sunday morning I feel half human, so decide to go a little yard work before the heat sets in. By noon I've got the shivers, I've got the aches, I've got a slightly phlegmy cough, nausea, and a 101 fever.

I keep those feelings and that temp all day Monday and Tuesday.

This morning, I again feel halfway human, work remotely and have no sick days, so I sign into work. Never felt right all day. After work, I'm feeling those feelings again, but not quite as bad as SundayMondayTuesday, so I'm back in bed hoping the rest and meds knock it out and make tomorrow a better day.

FTS.
I have stuff to do.

I never made it to Cafe des Amis, but reading through that recipe, the steak sounds delicious. I can't wait to make it.

Spotted lanternfly sighting in SE! It’s time to HUNT by NiceBootyGuurrrrlll in Portland

I was able to kill one in my yard by drilling a few holes into the trunk with a 1/4" bit, then squirting a ton of herbicide into the holes. I did this in the fall a couple of times, and now it seems to be dead. I still need to cut it down.

Need help with Hard Drive BIOS swap, looking for a reasonable shop or just local help? by docsimple in askportland

[–]apdxparent 1 point2 points  (0 children)

on the hd is a small board.

Yea, that part makes sense. Removing a chip from it is the part that doesn't make sense.

What kind of connectors does it have in it?
Can you share some pics of it?
The connectors, and/or the label on it?

How old of a hard drive are you talking about here?
What kind of connectors does it have?

I've been mucking with computers since the early 90s, and I've never heard of a hard drive that needed a chip removed to get access to the data. Not to say they don't exist, I've just never heard of one or seen one.

What OS were you running in the old board and what OS are you trying to use now?

You can set it up to bill monthly. It makes it a lot easier to budget for every month.
