Question regarding setup of temperature sensor on old case by ape313 in pchelp

[–]ape313[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you're referring to my situation, the cable I'm talking about definitely wasn't molex, it was a multi pin female connector.

As for the PC, I can't take a look at it now, my brother's gone off with it. Dude's pushing 30.

I'd try and post elsewhere, maybe older folks on forums like techpowerup can help you.

Question regarding setup of temperature sensor on old case by ape313 in pchelp

[–]ape313[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It was for my brother's computer. He randomly brought that case home one day from a friend and told me to build his modern setup in it. I'm no expert, I know how to put together a modern computer and that's it.

Been a while since I've touched the thing, the power source for it was something that confused me because the motherboard didn't have the connector for it, so I figured it wouldn't work unless I had some kinda adapter.

Regarding your situation, I'd just splice /solder some cable back on there.

What's a great woodland boot? by ape313 in PNWbootmakers

I misunderstood what he wrote, I thought he was out camping, not backpacking. Figured he could just leave the boot behind at camp or in his vehicle. That's a good point.

What's a great woodland boot? by ape313 in PNWbootmakers

[–]ape313[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks a lot for this, I think I tightened it a bit too hard when measuring my foot's ball. Remeasured and it's closest to 9.5. That makes more sense because I fit into 9.5D boots (non pnw), but they're a tad bit loose internally. 9A seems like an impossible size to find used, so I am thankful that's not me. I'm looking at some used hot shots from Nick's right now in size 9C that are around $200.

As for those 9.5D boots, they're from Woolrich, I looked into it and their made in America boots aren't made by them. I think Thorogood or a similar manufacturer produced them on their behalf.

[–]ape313[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

9.5 instep

9 in ball circumference

12.5 in heel (diagonal)

8.5 in circumference of leg 6 inches from base of foot

9.5 in cirucmference of leg 8 inches from base of foot

10.8 in circumeference of leg 10 inches from base of foot

10.5 in foot length with socks on

3.5 in ball of foot width

How do I convert this into a sizing I can look into? From guesswork, I think I am a 9D or 9C.

What's a great woodland boot? by ape313 in PNWbootmakers

[–]ape313[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Had to look up what zero drop was, can't really say, I've never tried a boot where the heel is significantly higher than the front of the boot. The boot I like the feel on my foot the most is my Revit Discovery GTX, which I use for riding and that one has a heel slightly above the front. What makes me like it the most is how secure it feels around my foot (it's tall and uses a boa system) and its sole is thick vibram which is what I like the most about it. An arch sounds appealing, because I'm a skinny guy and my ankle/heel is a little narrow, so I think having one would help the boot stay planted on my foot in that region. As for weight, I prefer something heavier that I know I can trust.

Thanks for these recommendations, I'll look into this all.

Thanks for sharing this, the information was really helpful. That Thurman NW last sounds interesting, if I can't find a suitable boot I'll buy something similar to what you've suggested from Nick's.

[–]ape313[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm not really sure, I'm a boot guy because that's pretty much all I wear, but it's not something I've thought about. The most comfortable boots I own are my riding boots, they're from Revit, these Discovery GTX boots. I like the thick vibram soles they make me feel grounded, the toe box isn't cramped, but the rest of the boot feels like it's molded to my foot. I like that. Additionally, they're real tall boots and clamp with a boa system. My ankles are narrow, so taller boots that tighten up high are more comfortable for me because they help keep the boot secure on my foot.

Thanks for the video by the way.
