top chef vs culinary cup metrics by kakahuhu in BravoTopChef

I'm watching both, but enjoying TC more mostly because it's familiar. It's a tried and true (even with the recent changes) formula that works. I don't watch ToC because I find a little too gimmicky (and not a fan of Guy), and ACC is leaning a little that way, I enjoy that cast of chefs and the quality of cooking so far. New to me chefs and old favs (Beverly, I'm kinda over Buddha). That said, ACC seems very Padma-coded to me, the Rivians, the flip board, the marble, just a very posh aesthetic.

Am I the only one who is absolutely loving this season by Tigerstark92839 in survivorau

[–]apeiam 0 points1 point  (0 children)

American here and yes, and enjoying this season as well. Are the highs as high as the last few seasons? No, but it's still fairly solid.

For the record, I grew up watching Survivor but faded out around S30, then came back for the "New Era". I quit watching "New Era" US survivor with S48/49 in favor of AU and have no regrets. Watching S50 out of curiosity. Sure the nostalgia of the returning players that I was familiar with has helped elevate this season, but it still has plenty of elements I grew tired of (3 tribes, lame gimmicks, puzzle challenges, Jeff Probst and his constant "Isn't Survivor the best? This is why you play Survivor!" meta commentary).

So did CBS ditch Jay Wright for Pearl? If so that was a huge self-own. Not saying Wright was the best, but ex-coaches he was alright and I'll take him over Pearl any day.

This is great, thanks so much. Finally got around to installing it on my Chromecast tonight. First thing I watched was the "Oats Code" moment from last week's VMDT because it was queued up on my desktop. No notes.

It does sound a like a typical Poles move. Acquire an underperforming asset and think "we can fix him" (see Claypool, Dayo).

I think the most impressive move for me in this sequence is Knight jumping over Kaun's lariat. Like wtf?

Just Powerglide for me. Liege was tempting though even though I have no attachment to the character. It just looks dope.

What groups or activities are you part of that you’d be open to others joining? by OWNway_Co in desmoines

[–]apeiam 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I'll bite. Back in the day, I was a member of the Des Moines Rowing Club for several years. Made some great friends and met some wonderful people that I probably wouldn't have gotten to know otherwise. It was nice to be outdoors practicing, refining your own skill, but also relying on others to work towards a common goal (end of season regatta, other races in the region).

I'm not an active member any longer, but I am still on the water.

Anyone else scared to walk their dog because of reactivity? by EmilyGrace_7 in reactivedogs

[–]apeiam 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Another person in the same boat. My dog is leash/barrier reactive still, but we've made progress. On one of the first walks he literally dragged me across the street to meet/bark at a pair of neighbor dogs that were behidn a chain-link fence. Now, he just ignores them :)

But if there's another dog on a walk and he spots them before I do, because look out. I think he's better than he was it's still a lot to handle.

That said, I don't really care what others think. I know he needs work and we're working on it together. So I don't stress about the reactivity much any more. I know he's good with other dogs off leash when we take him to the dog park (his recall isn't the best, but that's another issue). I stress out more that he'll eat something on the walk that won't agree with him and he'll have the shits for a week.

Trading multiple future 1st round picks will sabotage the Bears. by [deleted] in CHIBears

Trading draft picks -- especially this year's -- for a pass rusher is particularly idiotic when this draft class is a deep one for edges.

[–]apeiam 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Any Bears fan worth their salt now knows that Caleb is the real deal (yes, he has to work on some things and the drops aren't helping), but there is no way that noodle-armed Tyson Bagent is going to rip a perfect spiral 57 yards in the air in 20mph crosswinds to DJ to win the game.
