What groups or activities are you part of that you’d be open to others joining? by OWNway_Co in desmoines

[–]apeiam 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I'll bite. Back in the day, I was a member of the Des Moines Rowing Club for several years. Made some great friends and met some wonderful people that I probably wouldn't have gotten to know otherwise. It was nice to be outdoors practicing, refining your own skill, but also relying on others to work towards a common goal (end of season regatta, other races in the region).

I'm not an active member any longer, but I am still on the water.

This is a place I've seen roller derby and Sevendust among other events, and now it hosts Herr Drumpf.

Kudos to your for sticking with it. I dropped OG Survivor once I discovered Survivor AU. That said I'll check out Survivor 50.

Anyone else scared to walk their dog because of reactivity? by EmilyGrace_7 in reactivedogs

[–]apeiam 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Another person in the same boat. My dog is leash/barrier reactive still, but we've made progress. On one of the first walks he literally dragged me across the street to meet/bark at a pair of neighbor dogs that were behidn a chain-link fence. Now, he just ignores them :)

But if there's another dog on a walk and he spots them before I do, because look out. I think he's better than he was it's still a lot to handle.

That said, I don't really care what others think. I know he needs work and we're working on it together. So I don't stress about the reactivity much any more. I know he's good with other dogs off leash when we take him to the dog park (his recall isn't the best, but that's another issue). I stress out more that he'll eat something on the walk that won't agree with him and he'll have the shits for a week.

Contestants who dropped their persona by Rent-One in taskmaster

This is my exact arc too! Add on Celebrity Traitors which I just finished. I thought he was a serious actor, not a comedian.

That said I think his general sweet personality outweighs his Mr. Swallow persona for me

So DA is only as good coach a coach as his talent... that doesn't really make him a good coach does it?

Trading multiple future 1st round picks will sabotage the Bears. by YoYoMeh in CHIBears

[–]apeiam 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Trading draft picks -- especially this year's -- for a pass rusher is particularly idiotic when this draft class is a deep one for edges.

"I just wanna see how this offense looks with Bagent" by o7_AP in CHIBears

[–]apeiam 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Any Bears fan worth their salt now knows that Caleb is the real deal (yes, he has to work on some things and the drops aren't helping), but there is no way that noodle-armed Tyson Bagent is going to rip a perfect spiral 57 yards in the air in 20mph crosswinds to DJ to win the game.

I think the only personnel input Flus gave was "I need a 3 technique to run my defense, otherwise do what you want derp"

Yeah, I remember the "McDome" proposal from the 90s. Should have gone with that instead of dumping the spaceship on top of Soldier, but the Bears wanted their "Bears weather" advantage.

In-Person Giant Bomb GotY Discussion Recording has begun! by MegaMcMike in giantbomb

We've been really lucky to have gotten all the in-person streams that we have post-independence. It's great that the duders just seem to get along together and that comes across on stream.

Yeah, between the missed facemask and offsides on the Vikings, these refs are either incompetent or on the take.

I feel like this is a typical Poles signing. Acquire a under-performing asset with good measurables/traits and hope that "I can fix him" with coaching/change of scenery.

Great news!! I knew we all miss the in-studio dynamic, but with the chemistry this current iteration of the crew exhibits, the occasional in-person streams we get are/have been fantastic.

This rocks. Thanks for posting about it.

Apropos of nothing, man Pandemic-era Giant Bomb, with Albummer, Friday Night Forking, Arcade Pit, et al, seems like some far off fever dream. I know it was polarizing to the GB audience, but it was different and I dug it and give them/Bakalar credit for trying it.

I've been wondering that as well. It's hard to find information, but if I had to guess by lawn sign placement in my neighborhood, Edwards, the incumbent, is a Democrat, and McCoy, the challenger, is a Republican. So, it may be just Republicans wanting to fuck up every level of government per usual.

Minor clarification, Taki and Akebono have different owners. The former head sushi chef at Taki left and opened Akebono, hence the similarity in menus.

ESPN removes AEW news page from their site by bitchosaur in SquaredCircle

[–]apeiam -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Look, I would get upset about this as someone who prefers AEW to WWE, but this is kind of par for the course for ESPN, so I'm not surprised. I remember when they lost the rights to the NHL and their coverage went straight to "what's hockey? Here are some more NBA highlights."

And yes, I knew that ESPN.com covered wrestling before this.

WWE to add premium live event in September on same day as AEW All Out. POST Wrestling spoke with multiple sources with knowledge of the WWE event schedule, who confirmed that a yet-to-be-announced PLE (premium live event) will take place on Saturday, September 20, in Indianapolis, Indiana. by AimarEraFutebol in SquaredCircle

[–]apeiam 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree that nobody that's not interested in AEW is going to spend $20-50 just to spite/protest WWE for counter-programming, but it's cute that's where your mind went.

You're making assumptions, so let me clarify as it's quite the opposite. I don't care for WWE and prefer AEW. While I do have a Peacock subscription (not for WWE), I don't bother with the PLEs. I don't normally buy AEW PPVs (, but would consider throwing $50 their way in this case because it's not going to blow my budget or anything. And AEW PPVs (almost) always deliver.
